Calling to get a better rate code for a booked cruise

I never get the RU2 cheers package rate to show up under my VIFP offers online.  Its always RU3 and I think RU9 ones for Cheers but a lot of times those rates are a lot higher then the discounted VIFP rate available so it would still be cheaper to book the VIFP special rate and pay for cheers package full price.

The RU2 rate seems to be a lot cheaper though so it could make it worth it to book instead of VIFP (based on what I have seen others post as the rate for specific cruises with that code).

My question is, has anyone ever called Carnival and tried to book a rate that didn't show up online for them and have it successfully work?  The long times are really long still I assume so no point in wasting my time trying to call as ask about other rate codes if they can only book me at the same rates that show for me online when I look.

If your VIFP account isn't showing the rate code then it's a waste of time.

Tip: try your traveling partner's VIFP account if they're past guests. Sometimes, my wife gets better offers than I do even though our onboard spend is always linked (and very similar, including casino use) and I do most of the booking under my VIFP account.

Thanks! I tried that too but he didn't have the RU2 code either.  We've never done the cheers package before, just get the bubble because I don't drink anywhere near enough to pay the extra cost for alcohol for me but if it was at the discounted rates, then it would be worth it.

This is actually a good tip. My husband always gets the better deals so we usually book under his name. I happened to look at mine and had the RU1 deal...even better than my husbands RU2. No rhyme or reason....

Can I cruise with your husband to get his RU2?

We get this offer frequently but it is not a deal when you compare prices so we never take it

Same topic, different rate code question...

I'm booked on a casino offer. Got a save the date email on the new elite offers and the new one is far far far better than the one I have booked for two different cruises (one next week and one in late May).

The T&C does say for new bookings only, but is this the case in practice also? Or will they let you make this adjustment?  (Booked on F2E, new one will be available 1/18 and will be F5E - both are called "Elite" offers.)
