brandybit Posted January 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2022 We are on Escape 2/12 sailing and wondering if we will be docking for Puerto Plata at the new Taino Bay or still at Amber Cove? I need to know for sure to tell our excursion company where to pick us up! I'm getting conflicting information about this ....

brandybit Posted January 19, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted January 19, 2022 That's what I thought, but when I call NCL they tell me Amber Cove, even after I tell them that people on the Escape say they are at Taino Bay!!!
AtlantaCruiser72 Posted January 19, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2022 I was on Encore in December. NCL website said Amber Cove. We docked at Taino Bay. We were 2nd ship to ever use the port. While not yet complete what is open was quite nice.

However, along the way many guides want to take you there and show you the sights. They claim they are sanctioned by the Gov't. We wanted to be close to noone. There is a great bar on the street with a back patio. Had a beer and water there. Took a taxi back from the church up the hill. Negotiated $5 for the trip.enjoy your port visit. gcbama Posted January 20, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 20, 2022 We are on this same cruise. What excursion are yall doing here?
disneykins Posted January 20, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2022 We're on that cruise too, wondering about what to do. Looks like Taino bay is similar to Costa Maya, lots of shopping and bars, restaurants right at port, or you can venture out into town on your own. Walking to the Umbrella street and I think a fort looks interesting but I wonder how safe it is? Tony
