Dock for Puerto Plata on Escape?

We are on Escape 2/12 sailing and wondering if we will be docking for Puerto Plata at the new Taino Bay or still at Amber Cove?  I need to know for sure to tell our excursion company where to pick us up!   I'm getting conflicting information about this ....

That's what I thought, but when I call NCL they tell me Amber Cove, even after I tell them that people on the Escape say they are at Taino Bay!!!

I was on Encore in December. NCL website said Amber Cove. We docked at Taino Bay. We were 2nd ship to ever use the port. While not yet complete what is open was quite nice.

Is it possible to walk into town to see the umbrella street and pink alley?

I Googled from port to Umbrella street... shows it as a .7 mile (14 minute) walk.

Yes you can walk to it. However, along the way many guides want to take you there and show you the sights. They claim they are sanctioned by the Gov't. We wanted to be close to noone. There is a great bar on the street with a back patio. Had a beer and water there. Took a taxi back from the church up the hill. Negotiated $5 for the trip.enjoy your port visit.

We're on that cruise too, wondering about what to do. Looks like Taino bay is similar to Costa Maya, lots of  shopping and bars, restaurants right at port, or you can venture out into town on your own. Walking to the Umbrella street and I think a fort looks interesting but I wonder how safe it is?

Is the pool area free??? Or do you need to buy food and/or drinks to sit there??  Anyone know??

It was one of our best excursions ever!  Had a blast! There was nobody else on the tour with us do it was like having our own personal tour.

I'm trying to book the dune buggy tour now.  Do you know if a 16 year old can drive the buggy?
