Abbeydd Posted February 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2022 Has anyone been on Flora post pandemic and continued on the post cruise to Machu Picchu? We are scheduled to leave for Flora in a week and we're trying to get information about the Machu Picchu post cruise from someone who has recently done it. I think it just started up again not long ago. We are lacking in information even from Celebrity. If anyone has done it please let me know how it went. I know they say double masking and face shields?? Just wondered how it is. Thanks! Dee Dee
sanger727 Posted February 28, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2022 I went on a Galapagos cruise and then a Machu Picchu trip (neither was through celebrity)… this was in September so things may have changed. we had to get a PCR test 72 hours prior to entering Peru. We ended up getting on in Quito through a travel company. 2 masks were required on the plane and in all indoor locations in Peru. 1 mask was required in outdoor locations (including Machu Picchu). You will take a train from Cusco to Machu Picchu town, and then a bus from Machu Picchu town the site (that’s the only way you can get there). For some unknown reason the bus and train require 1 mask AND 1 face shield. There are vendors that sell face shields near the train station but we got ours ahead on Amazon.
zitsky Posted February 28, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2022 I don't know if this is your first visit or not, but I'd highly recommend Machu Picchu as a destination. It's really a "must see". Just drink lots of water and take it slow, because of the high altitude.
4774Papa Posted February 28, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2022 We did Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu on a four day tour in 2019 with PeruAgency.com It was fantastic and we only paid $799 pp for a PRIVATE tour. Hotels were great, some meals included. Price was 1/3 the cost of an excursion from Celebrity. Highly recommend getting you physician to prescribe altitude sickness meds for this area of Peru.
