First Australian cruise questions

Originally that wasn’t an option since our adult daughters wouldn’t be able to be away from their jobs for that long (they both work at hospitals and can’t be away 2 weeks or more). But now it looks like they can’t go so we are thinking about doing a B2B that includes New Zealand or the South Pacific.

I don’t know if you are familiar with NZ but google nz fiordlands by Cruise ship.

what sort of sightseeing options exist in Cairns.I am thinking if time permits a City Tour in the afternoon and what's available for the morning.I missed out on green island as there was a health scare last time a few days before I was supposed to have gone where all were sick and ended up at hospital and I had just done another PCR test Christmas Eve which was a follow up to the one I did the previous week before I left Adelaide(This was last year) - results on all but due to the hospital mucking up everything(what in Adelaide at SA Pathology Ridgehaven but sent to the City took 17-18 hours at the Cairns Hospital was 48 to 50 basically screwing up what was left of my holidays).on the positive side I got a refund recently.

I would not suggest a city tour of Cairns - there isn't that much to see other than what you can do independently. On the foreshore there is a great swimming pool. Another attraction is the wildlife 'dome' on top of the Reef Hotel and Casino.

 

Tours from Cairns are Green Island, Fitzroy Island, or the Skyrail trip to Kuranda.

The Skyrail one way and the heritage train the other way is a fantastic day trip. The views from both are spectacular and Kuranda has plenty of options to fill in a few hours.
