kshannon5 Posted March 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Hello all, Looking to schedule our first TA in January or May 2023, so excited! We'd like to send a week in London afterwards before we fly back to the US. Has anyone had experience with Cunard getting them a hotel? Wondering what properties they work with. The website simply says to call, and a quick couple of searches on the boards don't bring up much. Also wondering what kinds of prices or deals they get. I guess I'm wondering if I'm better off doing it myself or seeing what Cunard can offer. Thanks, Kris
PORT ROYAL Posted March 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Remember, whatever the hotel Cunard (Carnival) have a corporate rate on “junk” rooms that nobody wants (poor views etc). But the guests pays over the odds, in some cases above rack rates. Cunard will only confirm bookings with hotels 4/6 weeks prior to arrival, and when you arrive that’s it no changes. Plus Cunard charge per guest per room, hotels change per room. Best to select your own Hotel and room. For example, one booked three nights in a bay view gold room (with tons of benefits) at the Singapore Fairmont for a about 60 pounds more than Cunard charged for a lower floor street (junk) view (over front entrance of hotel). Particular note to transfers within costings, where one had a private limo, while Cunard offerings was a shared 50 seater coach with multiple drop offs. Can give many other examples.
bluemarble Posted March 4, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2022 (edited) If this helps any, here are the post-voyage London hotel packages Cunard is offering for a May 2022 eastbound crossing. Prices are in US dollars. I've omitted the 2 and 3 night pricing to keep it simple. Doubletree Tower of London = $540 for 1 Night / $1,620 for 4 Nights Conrad London St James = $700 for 1 Night / $1,840 for 4 Nights Flagship: The Biltmore Mayfair = $920 for 1 Night / $2,780 for 4 Nights Edited March 4, 2022 by bluemarble
kshannon5 Posted March 4, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted March 4, 2022 Thank you both for the insight! I think I won't bother going through Cunard, I'm better off getting a deal myself and having more control over the situation.
PORT ROYAL Posted March 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2022 Sounds like a good plan…. Forgot to add, there was a problem with our room in Dubai. We paid in advance, through Cunard, for a suite upgrade. On arrival, standard room, reception could not help as we were given what Cunard booked. Because of time difference, could not speak with Cunard until the following day and the local rep went AWOL.

That's as a HH member.
