Greetings to Host Hattie and all you lovely Cunarders,

We have read the latest testing requirements from Cunard and find ourselves a bit confused, but that seems to be the norm these days.

We are traveling on the May 29 Southampton to NY QM2. American, 100% vaxxed and boosted. Is it possible to be tested at the pier/terminal at Southampton? The Cunard info just released states that for Southampton departures, the test does NOT need to be medically supervised. Where in Southampton might we find such a test (i.e. one that doesn’t cost £79 at the Regenerative Clinic!)? Many thanks for your thoughts. We will be in Southampton and vicinity for a full day prior to departure if that helps.

😎

I would suggest Booking The Regenerative Clinic at West Quay and doing the £35 in Clinic LFT Test.  The day before sailing.

Or you could use  a Lloyds Pharmacy and book a test for £29.99

Boots also do them for £30

I hope I’m correct in assuming that the Abbott HOME test that is proctored will be accepted? We use it all the time in the US, but have never used it in the UK.

We are returning to the US on the May 29th sailing.

For departing Southampton

Those above are all supervised, but the latest COVID-19 protocols state from Cunard that the test does not need to be supervised.

So the tests need to be Government approved, but not supervised, so Companies like Qured, Randox, CityDoc etc who will supply a negative Certificate  after uploading a picture of a negative LFT Test will suffice. These are a bit cheaper at up to £15 but you do need the to be possession of Mobile phone/iPad/Computer and the LFT Kit and code to upload and receive the Certificate.

If going down this route then remember that Discount Codes are available from most airline websites.,

Definition of test.

For embarks in Southampton all guests must use a private antigen self-test that meets the criteria below. For Southampton embarks this test does not need to be medically observed.

Accepted antigen tests include:

  • Antigen Lateral Flow.
  • Rapid antigen test.
  • Viral antigen test.
  • Antigen Chromatographic Digital Immunoassay.
  • Antigen Chemiluminescence Immunoassay.
