MSC Yacht Club v Cunard Grills

We are great fans of the the Cunard Grills but hear continuing good reports of The MSC Yacht Club. If any reader have experience of both can they compare them for us please? I have looked at the menus posted on this site and think that Cunard offer a wider choice if one includes the A La Carte section. Standard Yacht Club cabins seem to be equivalent to PG on Cunard? Would be interested in opinions please?

I hope you get some replies from those who have cruised in both accommodations. Given my affinity towards "tuxing up" for dinner, I'd like to try Cunard some day and I'll be watching this thread for passengers' opinions.

Funnily enough I gave an answer earlier this morning to a similar question posed on my cruise blog review of MSC Virtuosa...

https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2022/04/02/msc-virtuosa-an-arabian-adventure/

'They compare quite favourably over many services and facilities and indeed often go further on the service – escorts to gangways and shows, a proper daily newspaper, and of course the inclusive drinks ship wide. The one area though that they cannot match though is ambiance: the standard of dress and manner created by Grills passengers.'

What I failed to address was that the Yacht Club also includes free wifi - even on the beach - and of course the a full copy of the UK newspaper of your choice...

...and of course, The Yacht Club Sun Deck has a pretty decent sized swimming pool...

Hope that helps.

Thank you Solent Richard - it was I who asked the question on your blog!

we are very tempted by the yacht club - however the ship does seem very large  - and we really like the intimacy of the smaller Queens - on the other hand you do seem to get more ‘goodies’ on MSC

The YC is totally isolated and sequestered from the rest of the ship.  It has been many years since I have seen the inside of the Grills but I would say the two experiences are different.  You cannot compare the two.  That said…I would recommend that you try the YC.  I’m sure you’ll appreciate the price point in the YC as well as all the amenities.

While I have not been a Cunard Grills guest, my experience in YC on Meraviglia was positively memorable.   There is a difference in ambiance on the ships that I detected due to one being British and one being Italian.

As for difference in menu selections, I think that if one informs the YC Restaurant's Maitre d' a day or so in advance, if the food is available, it could be prepared.
