Bulldogsoc Posted April 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2022 For those who have been on the MG (especially if during a high capacity sailing)… Any suggestions on any out of the way bars or at least lesser travelled bars where one would shortest wait time(s) to get drinks on embarkation day between those peak hours around sail away? Pellaz Posted April 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2022 Assuming these are open, Havana Bar, aft pool bar, or the Watering Hole (outside Summers Landing, Deck 8 starboard side). Also the Serenity Bar, if open.
Bulldogsoc Posted April 4, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted April 4, 2022 I will try those, but Aplmac and Jetsfan are almost certainly correct. I have been on other ships in the past where the Casnio bar (no gaming) was open and empty on embarkation day and easy to get a dink with no line. Thx again. Just enjoy the experience That was not our experience last month (full ship, Spring Break cruise). There were 4 of us and we all got seats at the following bars before sailaway (based on the times on my pictures). Brass Magnolia (1:15) Alchemy (2:08) Red Frog Tiki (3:30) I would say normally RFT would be one of the busiest bars but it was rainy that day so more people may have been inside. I was surprised we got seats there at that time.
Joebucks Posted April 4, 2022 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2022 Embarkation can be a zoo. Especially in some peak areas like Red Frog, Atrium, or the Casino. I haven't been on the Mardi Gras yet to tell you for sure. Something tells me the French Quarter might be less of a zoo.

Rare AtSeaWithChris Posted April 4, 2022 #10 Share Posted April 4, 2022 I found the Brass Magnolia to be fairly quick, especially after I got my first drink and tipped Milo. He had my name the first day and I never had to wait for a drink. He would see me walk up and make eye contact with me and ask me if I wanted a drink. I never had to ask him. The watering Hole is usually quick as well.
csm5986142 Posted April 4, 2022 #11 Share Posted April 4, 2022 We are on Mardi Gras now and guest services says we are "sailing full". The Watering Hole is staffed by 2 bartenders and not very crowded. In general, things are not as crowded as I expected. First day is definitely the worst but once ppl can get in their rooms and spread out, its really not bad. We were on Mardi Gras at about 50% capacity last summer and I was worried this experience would be bad but it's not. A lot more venues on the ship are open and there is so much to do. sas51 Posted April 5, 2022 #12 Share Posted April 5, 2022 Since the casino doesn't open until the ship is in international waters, the casino bar was practically empty for the first hour or so on board for our Thanksgiving cruise in late November.
