In 2018 we did Elbow Beach. Just a warning- if there are several large ships, it is not easy getting a cab back to the ship at the end of the day. The hotel tried calling for a cab several times, none available.

Since the Elbow Beach Hotel has been closed for a couple of years there won't be any big crowds there  waiting for taxis to get back to the ship.

No but will try it. So many of the beaches are packed with people that it scares us away.  We are older and at this point try not to fight crowds.

Thanks for the recommendation.

My point is that when you put 10,000 people on an island with 600 cabs (which also service hotel guests and locals) don't expect to find a taxi easily at prime time.

Arrange the ride ahead of time.

Tried. Driver said no.

I am surprised that a hotel would not have the phone numbers of taxis to call who would come. The hotel must not be giving them a cut. The buses are an option if no taxi is available. Also twice when I took a bus and was waiting by the bus stop once at Gibbs Lighthouse and the other time at John Smiths Bay a taxi saw us and stopped and asked if we wanted a ride. We hadn't even flagged them down.
