Rare MicCanberra Posted April 13, 2022 #51 Share Posted April 13, 2022 The new Sydney terminal is years away if it ever gets approval, as profitability, they would know well in advance as they would have the bookings before they arrive. If they aren't selling enough cabins, they would just shorten the season and incorporate Southern Asia as well. As for its size, many people will tell you it doesn't matter. It does.

Other ports that should take a oasis class are Hobart,Tauranga,Picton Brisbane and Sydney. Then there’s the company island of Lelepa which you think it will be capable of the big ships. Some say Dunedin and Christchurch but I don’t think a oasis would be suitable for NZ South Island as it’s a warm weather ship. Oasis Class ships are much bigger than the biggest WWII aircraft carriers. The Yorktown class carriers, which fought at Midway, were only 251m in length. Oasis Class ships are 360+m long - almost 50% longer. Having said that, I agree that the Noumea container dock should be big enough to handle them.

Icon would go well with the carbon neutral island,NZ Fiordlands and the Alaska season as it’s got all the new green technologies.
