How does MAIN DINING work on E Class Ships?

We will be cruising on the Beyond in July and since this will be our first experience with E Class Ships we’re wondering how this works for SELECT DINING?

 

Do  we make a reservation at one of the 4 Dining Room Venues ahead of time?

If you have a set time, you will be assigned to a dining room. If you have anytime, you can make reservations or just show up. Each menu has 3 sections. Section 1 is unique to the restaurant. Section 2 is unique to the evening. Section 3 is always available. Section 2 will be the same in each restaurant, but change every evening. You can mix and match to your heart’s content and a good waiter will pull you any dish from any restaurant.

Thank you. We have Select.   Would it be best to make reservations several months out?

With Select dining you can make reservations if you would like, we did 1night in each for the first 4.and after that went without reservations and only had short waits to be seated 

If you want to make reservation go into the Cruise Planner under dining and scroll past the specialty restaurants and below them you should find the MDRs.

We have set dining on the Apex at 6 pm nightly. We have read here on CC that Normandie is the best one. If we are not assigned to that restaurant can we change once we board? Thanks!

Normandie was our favorite however preferred the decor of Tuscan.
