What is your strategy to stay safe while on a cruise?

Without getting in the weeds on virology, being able to detect and PCR viron material in vitro is not the same as the virus being capable of infecting human cells and replicating.

The theatre of surface disinfection takes away money and mindshare from the hard things:  improving air exchange and expanding access to vaccine and antiviral medication globally.

Looks like you’ve got all the good strategies in place for pathogens that are transmitted via surface contamination. Not so much for pathogens that are airborne (like COVID-19).

We will be doing all those things you are. But adding masks, open air dining when possible, and social distancing. That way we will have both surface and airborne pathogens covered.

Hey Trixie, we got stuck in Oz in March 2020 when our cruise from Sydney to LA was cancelled and we were in Perth. Adventures in travel.  We finally made it to Sydney and got a flight out the day they shut down departures for Australian citizens.  They were pulling people with Australian passports out of the departure lines.

Regarding our practices, yes, they cover surface sanitation.  We are vaxxed and boosted for covid, vaxxed for the seasonal flu and don't bother with masks unless mandated.  Those who are vulnerable, such as unvaxxed or with underlying conditions should protect themselves with an N95.

Unfortunately,  many do not seem to understand the distinction.

Why, for example,  are chair seats constantly wiped down?  How many people have contracted Covid via sitting on on a seat ?
