Car rental Pt Canaveral after RCCL cruise...help...

The rental car locations in Cape Canaveral are very busy on cruise turnaround days. The easiest thing that I do is leave my family and luggage at the terminal and go on the shuttle myself. After I pick up the rental vehicle I return to Port Canaveral and pick up my family. As for vehicles in many instances cruise passengers reserve rental vehicles from multiple companies. After they check current pricing they pick up a vehicle and fail to cancel the other reservations at the other companies. Years ago a shuttle driver at Port Canaveral advised me that in most instances forty percent of reservations end up being no shows.

Hertz location closed last I heard ....

still available listed by distance from the port :

Enterprise/National/Alamo <in the port property, shared location & shuttle>

Budget (less than 5 minutes away from terminals 1 and 3)

AVIS, Dollar/Thrifty ..... in a cluster but D&T share location and shuttle ... A is across the street ...

My advice is to book an EARLY pick up.

Last month Avis had 90 reservations and only 42 cars. So folks arriving late were left without a car even with a confirmed reservation in hand.

I have read so many posts about the issues with waits and cars...thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

We currently have a rental car reservation for Avis - is Avis a walkable distance for an adult couple (no kids) with 1-2 bags total?   We've never picked up a rental car AFTER our cruise, so I'm not really sure how it works.   We are being dropped off for the cruise (most likely uber) so wasn't sure how to "get" to the car afterwards.  I figured we could always uber if necessary.

- straight line T-1 to Avis is 2 miles ... but you can't walk the straight line so a bit more.

- if not T-1 but on north side (overflow) you can not cross the draw bridge on foot. No sidewalks or walking lane on bridge.
