I read that the new "Elizabeth Line" for the Tube is opening this May.  Does anyone know when?  Any other info?

It's worth reading all of the comments to that article (and indeed to all of the "long read" articles on that blog). The people who contribute to that site - both the article authors and comments - include some very knowledgeable and well-informed people, and there is a lot of information that can only come from insiders.

 

Most of London is very keen to know the answer to this question, too. But for the reasons given there, we're unliikely to get much advance notice, and it may happen relatively quietly. I'm inclined to believe that getting the Northern Line Bank Upgrade open in mid-May is likely to be a higher priority for that month, because "mid-May" has been the stated date since that closure was confirmed. So a point later in June feels about right to me, and anything earlier would be a lovely bonus.

 

Don't overlook the fact that Bond Street station (Elizabeth Line) will almost certainly not open when the central section opens, and that central section trains will only run as far west as Paddington. And although the Elizabeth Line brand will be introduced to all the sections of the project at the time that the central section opens, it will initially operate as three separate railways: Reading/Heathrow <--> Paddington; Paddington <--> Abbey Wood; Liverpool Street <--> Shenfield. Amalgamation into a single operation will come later on, over the following 6-12 months or so.
