recia Posted May 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2022 The site I plan on getting a test Thursday says it is a Rapid PCR test, not sure if same as rapid atigen or not. Is the Rapid PCR okay for boarding Princess ship?
Cuedon Posted May 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2022 (edited) Generally speaking, PCR has a higher sensitivity and is considered a better test... Except you can test positive weeks after you're no longer contagious, which can prove problematic. As of last week, PCR (not sure about 'rapid') was acceptable for Princess up to 3 days in advance. Edit: Actually, just to avoid any problematic issues since my info is US-centric... Here's the link to Princess' page itself: https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/ Edited May 16, 2022 by Cuedon
Rare scooter6139 Posted May 16, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2022 Rapid PCR I think usually means the NAAT version. My folks got that one at a local Walgreens.

Buckeye10640 Posted May 16, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2022 If you are talking about Rapid NAAT test offered at Walgreens that is an acceptable PCR test.
Sprocket Posted May 16, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2022 It should tell you on the website how long it takes to get the results for the tests. The PCR at the Walgreens I use says up to 48 hours, the NAAT rapid antigen tests we have our results in under 2 hours. We also test at home the day before so hopefully no surprises.
