Diamond lunch and the diamond/platinum party is cancelled on all sailings through 6/30 due to staff shortage. 50 OBC is for the cancelled diamond lunch event. Platinum and diamonds are getting 2 drink coupon vouchers in lieu of the drink party. For me personally this is better than going to the cluster that this event has become.

Amen, luv the 50 OBC although since we always get the drink package the coupons are useless to us, but then we normally do not go to the drink party anymore

Has carnival changed them once again? I have been told there are no more parties but I cannot find that information. Also was told Diamond would now get $50.00 and free drinks. I am just wondering if this is true.

Patricia

I just turned Platinum on my March cruise and also sailed in April. On both cruises, there was a party with unlimited drinks (depending on whether you could snag a drink from an elusive server's tray and/or order a drink). DH and I had 2 each at the party and left with one. We were fine with that. No food was served but since we're new to Platinum, we weren't expecting any. We got our $25 pp free play from the casino, free laundry, free brunch drink, and a gift from Pixels. Pretty happy overall.

Most loyalty program perks (hotel, airline) depend on how frequently a customer stays/flies PER YEAR. Eventually, as the number of Platinum and Diamond members increase, which they continue to do, I think cruise lines are likely going to have to tighten their requirements.

My husband and I are both platinum. We stopped going to the Platinum parties a long time ago.  Just not worth it.  I very much prefer 2 drink coupons and hope they make this a permanent change.

Have the free big bottles of water in the cabin for Platinum gone away?

No, they have not, however they are not in the cabin when you get onboard. You have to go to a bar onboard and ask for it.

my wife is platinum, i am not.  im gold.

can get the bottles of water at the bar as described above.  and the ship's pin at centralized location, no longer arrives in the cabin.

the best is the free bag of laundry she gets.   kinda nice to refresh the clothes mid cruise on 7+ day sailings.

i dont know if we use any of the other perks.   i know our sail and sign card is always at the room by time we get there, well before 1pm.  we dont care too much about priority boarding since we usually arrive day before and chill at a local hotel...usually meander to port after the latest checkout time we are afforded.

we went to the party last time and it was a welcome diversion from the usual things we were doing onboard the first several days (chillin on lido, hitting the casino, doing trivia, etc)

Went to a party on the Miracle in April.  Drinks only.  I can do without the party or the OBC, but if they do away with the free laundry the other cruise lines will be looking better.

Just off the Mardi Gras last week. Yes the party changed, There was one and they severed / handed you a glass of wine on your way in or soda if you wished. No more mixed drinks at the "party" but you did receive a free drink voucher posted to your sail and sign account to get a free drink at any bar. From 1 hour before the party until cruise ending. I am not Diamond so do not have any info on a $50.00 credit unless this is being confused with the $25.00 credit P/D where receiving for booking a sailing during covid-19.   So yes the party happened on the Mardi Gras.

I think the lousy one glass of wine party is Lee the Cruise Director and just the Mardi Gras. It was all drinks on the Magic in February but just the one glass of wine  option this week on MG

The way I read the 'announcement' from JH, the diamond and diamond/platinum parties have been suspended through June due to staffing shortages. All diamond members will receive a $50 onboard credit and diamond and platinum guests will receive I believe it was 3 drink vouchers (of course if you purchase cheers this is totally useless)

The Diamond/Platinum parties started back before August for sure. I was at one in August.

A couple of weeks back the Diamond party was in full bloom on the Sunshine. Held in the Red Frog pub. Drinks, hors d'oeuvres even a chocolate delight. Actually, quite nice. Must have been one of the last before the cut off.

Yes, the ones they will charge you for. We have seen this 4 times since the restart. The additional ones that are provided for I think, gold and above "VIFP" members are obtained from the bars onboard. Though I have wondered if someone used the ones in the cabin and thought, oh...I thought those were the ones for VIFP members, if the would get charged.

I am sure your getting the Big bottles of water in your room mixed with the free pickup ones at any bar. The ones in your room are for purchase. If you open one of those it cost you verses the free one you can pick up at any bar. Yes we saw the 2 Big bottles in our room on MG but they had a price tag on them.

Actually you can take the big bottles in the cabin. Yes, they will charge you, but they will also credit the sale, the same as if you pick up at any bar. But no double dipping.

We have our first cruise in a few years thanks to covid and are platinum. How is embarkation done if you are platinum. We used to show up early and go to a special section in the port and then platinum/diamond were let on first. How do they do it now or is that perk gone and you just show up at the time they give you? Thanks
