dst Posted May 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2022 We are traveling on Edge in January and wondering if it is possible to find a great beach to hang out for the day. Do we get there by taxi or should we do a tour (not ship sponsored). Help - I am so confused 🙂 Thanks
JohninDC Posted May 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2022 Several beach clubs near the port along Carlisle Bay - pre-virus they were all about a $5 per person cab ride from the port (or you could walk it in about 15-20 minutes). Check out the Boatyard, Lobster Alive and Harbour Lights and others.

Because it’s only $5 by shared minibus or walk. It’s a loud and brash place, not a destination for genteel cruisers seeking a more quieter beach stay. If being close to the ship is the requirement, consider Brandon’s or Brighton on the West coast.
tartana Posted May 24, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2022 We walked from the ship to Carlisle bay beach in November 2019 and rented beach chairs/umbrella. It was a perfect day for us. The beach is absolutely stunning on a nice day. It is not very far at all.

We have a 10 day next December and trying to get a mix of tours vs. beach. Are there various fenders renting chairs they’re like at St. Maarten? We went to the beach club right at the start and it was very quiet and uncrowded- a bit busier later in the day. There are several spots you can rent chairs, etc. harbour lights, boat yard, cococabana. Further down in I think there are more restaurant spots etc. we just really liked that it was even in walking distance from the ship and it was a lovely little walk

TTEllis Posted June 9, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2022 Highly recommend Barbados Scenic Tours. Our CC group did this quite some time back. It was a highlight of our vacation. Carlisle is a great beach beautiful water. If your the only ship in Port, Carlisle is a great day, two or more ships in Port The Boatyard and Lobster it's sardine can city. Just too many people for me. First trip take the tour the beach it's not going anywhere. 😉 Go see Bathsheba it's worth it.

How long is the walk and how do you get to them.

Not much to see when snorkeling anyway.. There are reasonable chair rentals and a small bar. It’s walkable but a cab for two was cheap enough to make it worth not having to walk back in the heat. There were very few people, it’s quiet and laid-back and the beach is stunning. No towel herds.

I am also interested in tan answer to this as we booked the Carlisle Bay Beach Break with Celebrity for our upcoming Equinox cruise. What is the snorkeling like there, heard mixed reviews. We have our own equipment, but hubby is not so confident, so he will stay close to shore. I on the other hand will go for miles if there is a lot to see! 🐟🐠
