How's the current sargassum seaweed in Cozumel, Costa Maya, And Rotan?

We're headed out on the Mardi Gras next week.

How's the sargassum seaweed beach condition at each for these ports (Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Rotan)?

In March/April the government of Mexico said there were installing barriers and cleaning up, but would rather hear from experienced cruisers.

Noticed it in Costa Maya more so than the other ports. Like your information where they were installing barriers and cleaning up. But this info is pre-covid.

You many want to ask in the port of call forums as well.

Definitely in the Costa Maya and Cozumel forums.

I think right now is the season the seaweed is its worst, but I'm not positive.

I was in Costa Maya last Tuesday - it was awful. terrible. Beaches totally unusable. We tried to go to the beach, but just headed back to the ship.

Cozumel was fine; we saw it in the water, but apparently the current push it off the west-facing beaches and over to Cancun.

No issues at all in Roatan - the beaches there were spectacular!

It was terrible my may 13 grandeur cruise. May 18 winds picked up and both ports were actually a lot better. Storm and winds blowing it out to sea maybe. I was in cozumel with breeze and I think vista 2 days ago. Dark clouds and stormy looking but didnt rain much. We were next to breeze. Couldnt read the name 2 ships over, bigger ship.
