laedw Posted May 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2022 I'm booked on a Southern Caribbean December cruise on the Celebrity Beyond. This will be my first Celebrity cruise. I'm looking for feedback on sailing solo on Celebrity. I've cruised solo on RCCL and NCL and felt comfortable because there is so much to do. Rare KKB Posted June 13, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2022 I sailed Edge last summer & Apex this spring--there was PLENTY to do! They would be great to sail solo, imo.(those didn't happen to be solo)
hrhdhd Posted June 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2022 (edited) I've sailed solo on Celebrity three times and have two more booked. I don't cruise to do a lot (I prefer to sit in a lounge chair in the Solarium and read), but the daily program is full of activities. You won't have a problem keeping yourself busy. 1806kjf Posted August 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2022 I have completed about 12 solo cruises on Celebrity. I am very comfortable cruising solo, although every once in a while, Celebrity will assign me to a table by myself when I have requested a table of 6-8 on the late seating (this is a problem that is easily fixed). The advantage of assigned seating is that you see the same people every evening. I love Celebrity and hope to cruise with them in the future, but this year I am trying out Holland America for the first time. I am not travelling on Celebrity this year because last year I had to pay $579 for the drinks, wifi and tips for a non-existent roommate due to the "all inclusive" required pricing (in addition to the cabin fare). Paying the $579 for myself was painful as I only drink one alcoholic beverage a day, so it was no bargain for me, but it was ridiculous to pay for a non-existing roommate. I do not mind paying the "single supplement" as I use the whole room and like having the space to myself, but will never pay the "all inclusive" price for a ghost again. (would not have last year except I had a credit from the previous years cancelled cruise). Hope I enjoy Holland America as I signed up for a 30 day cruise..... oakridger Posted September 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2022 @1806kjf welcome to Cruise Critic! I travel solo most of the time and have enjoyed my HAL cruises. Part of it has to do with the ship size. I can't even imagine going on a 3000-6000+ passenger ship! The HAL newest Pinnacle class ships are even too big for my taste (~2650 pax) but I'm trying Rotterdam this fall because I like the itinerary. Have a great cruise! ~Nancy

I recently sailed on the Beyond as a solo at the end of June. I had the Single Edge Balcony room and it was quite nice. The pools on the ship are awesome, especially the plunge pools on the top. I was on for 9 nights and it was quite port intensive. I noticed there were plenty of activities and I usually partake in the Casino. One of the highlights of the trip was meeting Captain Kate. You will see her around. Let me know if you have any questions.

Please let us know about HAL as I am curious. I am a dedicated Celebrity cruiser but I am willing to branch out.

But in the evening I want to listen to live music and dance. Any suggestions for evening activities besides the casino? TIA.
