FauxNom Posted July 12, 2022 #101 Share Posted July 12, 2022 Bravo! I'm so glad to hear the potential drama was handled generously by Silversea--what a great way to end your amazing cruise!
Hglsland Posted July 12, 2022 #102 Share Posted July 12, 2022 That is fantastic news about Silverseas! We had a good experience with RSSC March 2020 when we were forced to disembark early in Perth Australia because of Covid to make flights back to the US. Thank you for sharing the information with us.
labrasett Posted July 13, 2022 #103 Share Posted July 13, 2022 We have had similar good experiences with SS when things have gone wrong. We were so well cared for when Covid hit us on the Explorer in March 2020. We were off the coast of Chile and they negotiated with the authorities to transfer us, effectively in a bubble to a local airport and chartered fights to UK, US and Australia to get us home. We were well cared for with FCC to cover our disappointment even though we had had 11 of our planned 14 days on board. Since then we have been granted additional FCC for disappointment vis a vis missed landings on a recent trip and we had a diversion on our recent charter flights from Santiago to Puerto Willilams due to bad weather. With 45 minutes warning of the diversion SS had organised transport and overnight hotel in P. Williams for all passengers. We waited barely 30 minutes on board the aircraft before the buses turned up for us. We arrived at a hotel in Punta Arenas to find that all check in formalities had been done for us and we just had to pick up our room keys. 30 minutes later we were invited to the dining room for a three course evening meal with drinks of choice and then are had a comfortable nights sleep before heading off back to P. Williams. The ship sailed as soon as we arrived. SS have managed each of our potential disaster scenarios with skill, generosity and aplomb.
