Well there is a first time for everything.  I was locked in a stall in the bathroom by the casino for a few minutes just now. 🤣😂🤣

I closed the door behind me and locked it, not noticing there was no inside handle.  Tried to to use a Barrette to see if I could get it opened but to no avail.  Asked for help in the washroom but no one answered. Had to text Paul and he sent someone in to rescue me.

There was no sign of the handle anywhere and no sign on the door.

What’s next??!! 😂😂

Oh no! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Or both!

We just did brunch at the Solarium bistro.  They had the normal breakfast stuff (eggs, their weird bacon, beans, sausages, corn beef hash etc) as well as fried rice, roast chicken, turkey, mashed potatoes.

Love the convenience of the bistro when we are already in the solarium and it never seems as hectic as the WJ.

I thought that I read someplace that there is an omelet station in the Solarium Bistro, did. you happen to notice.  Thanks

Sorry I am not sure. I only went a few times but it was around 11:30.  I did not notice one when I was there

I had to show a few of your posts to my wife because 1. She hates birds, 2. She got stuck in a bathroom when she was young, and 3. We love donuts. 😂

But now she’s paranoid about never using a public bathroom when we go on the Oasis!!!  😳

We did self disembarkation this morning.  We walked off the ship at 6:40.  We walked straight through the terminal, right to the facial scanners and out the door.  We were at the Ride Share location (Zone 7/8) at 6:44.

Our car has been parked at the Hampton Inn Staten Island since 6/5 where we were able to park for free with one nights stay.  I immediately set up a Lyft for $32.99 (was $37.99 but I had a $5 coupon).  The app said the car would be here in 9 minutes. With 2 minutes to go, it said he was around the corner and then all of a sudden it said they were finding us a new driver and would be another 9 minutes.  We ended up in the car at 7:08. Driver took a wrong turn but it only added a few minutes to the ride.  We were in our car at 7:29 and it is exactly how we left it.  I will definitely be staying here again for B2Bs!!

Now I have two things to check before using a public toilet stall...is there toilet paper, and is there a handle on the door? 🤣

Have a safe trip back, and Congrats on your SeaDogs Memorial cup win.  Happy Canada day.

Thank you for your great reporting.  Tides me over till I get a chance to cruise again.

BTW I was in SJ last Saturday.  My wife was at the French High School grad ceremonies and I spent that time at Tucker Park.

I have 10229 Booked for August. Do all the double Balconies(229) have the 2 lounge chairs? Also, how is privacy? I booked it knowing everyone could see you, but am used to OV balcony. I'm worried that Breakfast on the balcony will be a bust!!LOL

it looks like they all have 2 except for the top ones (deck 14).  Some of them had additional tables and chairs.  If the one you get does not have loungers, i am sure you can ask your attendant for one and they would bring you one of there is space to accommodate it.  I would personally not choose deck 14 because of the noise from the activities at the pool.  The sexiest man / belly flop contests are LOUD.  We were on deck 11 and could hear it loud and clear.

Privacy was not really as issue for us.  I mean, I wouldn’t walk around out there in my underwear or anything, but I did not feel like I was in a fishbowl. It was nice to be able to put there and read or have a drink.

Hi Jessica - thank you so much for sharing your trip - it was great to follow along.  DW and I are sailing out of Cape Liberty in September on Adventure for the N.E./Canada itinerary - we'll be sure to wave hello when we dock in Halifax!

A question about the Hampton Inn - how did you book it?  Did you call the hotel directly?  I can't find anything online for a park-and-cruise package at that particular hotel, but it sounds like a great idea.  We're coming from Connecticut and between the varying reports of parking concerns, traffic getting into the port, and the way Connecticut traffic has gotten to be, we're seriously considering driving down the day before and doing what you guys did.  Any feedback on that?

We are in Saint John not Halifax but definitely give us a wave 🙂

I sent them a FB message asking about park and cruise and they sent me an email back saying there is no package but parking is included and does not need to be booked in advance - we just needed to leave the car info with the front desk.  They gave us a sheet of paper to put in our car window. I have attached the email we got from them. The same people manage both the Hilton and Hampton Inn.  We ended up booking using points on the Hilton app.

if you are planning to go I would definitely still send them a FB message like we did to ensure I policies have not changed.

So I have been working away on a chair in the Solarium.  I am also listening to an audio book with my Bose noise cancelling headphones on Quiet so cannot really hear the announcements.  I heard the captain sound the horn awhile ago (can't miss that) and the ship started to chug a little while later.  It felt like we were moving, but I thought "That cannot be right" because sail away is not for hours and continued working.  Sure enough I look up 30 minutes later and we are no longer where we were and were in motion.

Apparently there was a big container ship that needed to get out and could not get around us so we had to move in order to make room.  We are pulling back into the terminal now.

Hopefully this does not delay folk's embarkation too long!

Actually this led to quite the fiasco. We had a 10:30 embarkation time but we were herded into the large area where bags are picked up at the end of the cruise. We were given water but no instructions. With no cell service available we were left in the dark. When they did start boarding, no consideration was given to original embarkation times. We ended up being toward the end of the crowd. Not a great start but we were able to put it behind us and have a great time.

We ended up getting home around 9PM AST on Friday night after a few pit stops on our drive from NY to Saint John, NB.  Of course the drive had beautiful sunny weather the entire way until we got home.  When stopped in southern Maine at one point it was 34 degrees celsius / 93.2 Fahrenheit.  When we got to Saint John it was foggy and 16/60.🤣

Great report Jessy! We are doing an overnight on Oasis in SJ next year. We will waive coming and going. Thank you for the great work.

I did not realize they did overnights here.  Cool!
