Casino- Vista vs. Dream

Dream has a non-smoking annex casino a deck down from the main casino (which also has a non-smoking section).

The casino bar on Vista was removed although there are still bar servers.

For me, Dream wins hands down.

I liked the Dream having the 2 casinos but the non smoking one was almost always empty so the regular one was usually crowded. I don't smoke but I played up there because I didn't like the games or the quietness of the non smoking one.

Back then you had to wear a mask and didn't smell any smoke on the Dream, got to play more. Usually only get to play short periods of time because of the smoke. Back when I sailed the Vista with no mask smelled smoke from a distance approaching the casino. The Horizon smelled smoke while wearing a mask.

Vista casino felt a little smaller and had no casino bar. Probably a little brighter lighting than the Dream though. Don't gamble much or spend too much time in the casinos, but I have been on each ship one time and had much better luck in the Vista casino if it means anything 😉

The non smoking casino on the Dream was only empty the first night on my Feb sailing.

We loved the non-smoking casino but I liked the machines in the regular casino better.  We also played a lot of blackjack and there were always a couple of people to play with.  I only once remember it being packed at the table, which I liked.

No casino bar on Vista.  😔

There is a Sports Bar down the promenade from the Casino, but it only has 4 TVs.

We love the casino bar on Dream.  Lots of TVs, and lots of folks at the bar watching their favorite teams.
My husband is the gambler in our family and he spends a fair amount of time in the casinos.

I know Carnival wants us gambling at the tables and slots, and not at the TVs, but the bar is a social gathering place, even for a non-gambler like me.  It’s not unlike the Alchemy Bar, save for a slightly different clientele perhaps.
Vista is fun, but there are a number of drawbacks on her, and no casino bar is one of them I think.

Ah. There is a difference between the Red Frog Bar and Red Frog Pub.

Yes. The Pub you can get half price alcohol during happy hours. Even cases of beer. But if you have Drinks on Us or Cheers?

I have yet to see a ship with more than 1 craps table.  So, if I want to enjoy my casino experience, it's all about whether or not I can get on the table. With more people on the Vista, my odds of getting on the table at a peak period were not good. The smaller the ship, the easier it is to get on the table.

Did go on the Breeze which had a non-smoking casino annex.  They had several BJ tables there, which made it easy for me to get on a table with my daughters. We all lost our backsides, but at least we went down together.

Isn’t there?

i swear there was.

Nope. Just the Red Frog bar on the Lido.

As I don't frequent casinos (in fact, attempt to avoid even walking through them), all casinos on ship are similar.  Croupiers may be better on one ship than another.  But absence of a Casino Bar would not be a deal breaker for me.
