Coach To Port and Covid

 Share

Recommended Posts

We have decided to take advantage of the "free" coach travel to the port as part of the select fare. Now I know that everybody on that coach (not sure about the driver), must have a negative test the day before. However let's suppose one of the passangers tests positive at the port, would P&O deny boarding to all that travelled on that same coach?

The Daily Record incident was before Iona started her Norwegian Fjord cruises as it involved port terminal testing and was 2 weeks long. Its unfortunate as the couple had clearly jumped through all the correct hoops including the day before test to get on the coach.

Since this incident, as you may know, the rules have changed with port terminal testing no longer taking place. Therefore no one on the coach should be tested between boarding the coach and the cruise departing. Therefore no more offloading of coach passengers should occur.

One caveat here, is that if a coach passenger felt unwell with Covid symptoms between boarding the coach and the ship departing and took a test in Southampton, then this could create a close contact scenario however the chances are slim.

Thanks for clarification.

They no longer test at the port, which is why you have to arrange the pre cruise test.  So no one would know unless a passenger volunteered that they felt ill.

So the videos on the website still say your ticket time is the time of your Covid test, so a touch outdated.

Do you need to pay for these tests or are they still included in the cost?

You have to pay, but you can get a fit to fly home test kit for £12pp.

Just a general question, are the coaches now running at full capacity as port testing has been withdrawn? Five of us will be using the coach in July and the last time we used it the coach was only a third full

We travelled down from Leeds three weeks ago. The coach had 40+ people on board and no masks were worn except by us. No-one at the port wore them either and distancing was non existent.

Thank you Yorkypete , we assumed that as testing is now done pre travelling as opposed to port testing that things would be returning to how things used to be ,as in theory everybody on the coach should be negative before boarding, well  that's the theory anyway!!!
