We are booked on an Alaskan cruise sailing out of Seattle in August.  We are booked for a flight into Seattle 4 days before the cruise - currently planning on renting a car and taking the car ferry over to Victoria for a couple of nights before the cruise, taking ferry back to Seattle for cruise.  Do we need to complete the ArriveCan for the ferry to Victoria then again for the Victoria stop during the cruise?  Thanks for any info!

Jim, the ArriveCAN requirements are pretty straight forward in your case, simplified by the fact that in all three cases, the cruise visits Canadian ports but begins and ends outside Canada. You will need to list the port of entry for all three - Halifax/St.John's/Halifax - but the other Canadian ports visited have no impact on your submissions.

In all three cases, you need to make your submission within 72 hours before arrival in Canada or 72 hours before embarkation. With the second and third cruises, you can either make your submission onboard before the end of the preceding leg or wait until you arrive at your turn around port.

Don't hesitate to ask any follow up questions that might arise.

Yes, every time that you enter Canada you need to make an ArriveCAN submission. If I go to the US for some cross-border shopping two days in a row, I need to make a submission for each entry back into Canada.

On the positive side, it will be quick and easy to update your trip information for the second submission.

Sort of.  You complete the app before boarding the car ferry.  You then simply can update it before you board the cruise.  Do check for updates.  That can cause problems.

If you use your phone the app should take under 10 minutes.  Type in your passport numbers and take a picture of your covid card.  Your phone will format correctly.

ArriveCAN is except for people like truckers only for a single entry.

Then for your cruise simply enter your cruise info.  Everything else should already be there.

This is truly not a big deal.

We crossed in and out of Canada 4 times over a couple weeks.  Total time on ArriveCAN under 15 minutes

Thanks for the great information.   It should be really easy from the ship as I have both accounts already loaded with Passport etc.     On one of our recent cruises on Silhouette for entry into Portugal I noticed they had Portugal and ArriveCan on the PC's in the Internet Cafe and you could use  to upload even without an internet account for those without internet or smart device.

That's a very positive step, including it on the Internet Cafe's PC's.
