TR--Caribbean Princess July 9-23, 2022

Weds 7/13 Belize

We chose to stay on.

45 min shuttle each way.

And an empty ship is luxury.

Our friends did the tubing excursion & loved it!

Hit the empty pool for a few hours.

Ordered a gluten free pizza at the pool—EXCELLENT!

(but it wasn’t today…that crust needs to be well done)

And a lovely nap. I ❤️❤️ Naps!

Then our usual—trivia, early dinner ( usually 5-530, always at Palms—Sergio is the head waiter & took our gluten free orders; we would order ahead.), trivia.

We went to Born to Be Wild production show.

Ummmmmm….I don’t want to be unkind.

But after the top notch production shows on RCCL, NCL & Celebrity the last 5 years, this was a big let down. It felt like a local production show. Would be solid show at home but have come to expect more on a ship.

The audience wasn’t super into it either. The last song was a song none of us knew, a sit seemed most of audience didn’t either.

I won’t say it was BAD. It wasn’t. It was OK.

TheN watched the always hilarious Marriage Show.

Watching the couple of 20 some years horrify their young adult children was priceless.

Who is the cruise director and who other than Gareth and Rhys are on the staff? Do you know if they'll be staying on through next month?

@geoherb I just spoke with Rhys & he will be on several more months.

He was very curious who you are!

Well the LGBTQ get together has a nice group at Wheelhouse.

Solo get together not so much.

As a first time solo cruiser I was hopeful but I’m pretty social so not worried.

Next month on NCL Getaway there r lots of solos (zero single supplement will do that!)

So it will be good for me to experience both.

My thoughts on repeat menus/activities on B2B:

While this is my first official solo cruise, it’s not my 1st B2B.

I just read a review by someone who just finished a B2B & they found the repetition of menus/activities tiring.

Really?

There are NUMEROUS items to choose from under each course each night! I realize not everything is to everyone’s taste (rightly so), but I love that I can try new things or get favorites again the 2nd week.

Game shows lend themselves to change because of the passenger involvement—you never know what you are going to get!

Production shows do not lend themselves to change-too much work!
So 2 choices—hit them all the 1st week & hit your favs again the 2nd week.

OR divide & conquer—choose a couple each week.

The vocalist who is often in Wheelhouse has a nice voice; but far too often it is “affected”—she is trying to do too much with it (runs, etc) & it isn’t necessary. In the occasion she sings pure, it’s quite nice.

(you didn’t realize I’m a judge for The Voice, did you. I strive to surprise!)

Loved the picture of the creme Burleigh incorrect spelling I know 3 months till my next princess cruise on the discovery.

OMG there is crème brûlée EVERY NIGHT!

pistachio

vanilla

Lemon

My FAV dessert (and I’m not much of a dessert girl).

That was a complaint of mine on Celebrity.

Nit enough cream brûlée!

IMO Princess has THE best desserts at sea!

Thanks for your Live Report. I’ll be on the Caribbean Princess on Sept for the Quebec’s City - NYC cruise. Do you have some recommendations about the MDRs? I’m trying to reserve my Dinner times via the Medallion app. Thanks in advance.

I sailed on the CB in December.

The solo supplement for my cruise next month was just 10%, so perhaps there will be more of us. I try to make both the solo gathering and the LGBT one on the first night if they don't conflict. On my cruise in December, I was the only man who showed up to the solos gathering. Eight women were there. In February on the Regal, five men, including me, showed up for the solos gathering the first night and no women.

Have eaten at Palm nightly around 530, no reservation. No wait. Reservation line can be longer.
Ate breakfast & lunch in Coral, both nice.

The ship was rocking a lot & I slept poorly, now dealing with some motion sickness issues. Decided to rest onboard today. Will try to continue posting later.

SORRY for the lack of posts but internet was even worse this week.

I woke with cold symptoms so masked all the way home.

YEP—COVID.

So far mild—truly feels like a cold.

I will do a proper TR soon.
