St. Kitts & Nevins - Celebrity Edge

Hello all -

 

This December husband & I will be on the EDGE and are huge HAMILTON fans.

I know the ship docs in St. Kitts. 

 

Is the only way to get to Nevins via the boats via the ship?

Are there private companies that take you back and forth?

 

What is the BEST Hamilton tour?

Never heard of it but it sounds fun, I think.

Sounds kinda snooty, count me in.😉

You want the "Day Trip to Nevis with Lunch" tour" that Celebrity offers. Nevis is the sister island, so yes, water transportation is required. 

You can get to Nevis on the ferry independently and the Hamilton House is just a few blocks from the ferry terminal,  but there is not a lot to see. 

 

Pre -  Lin Manuel Miranda, the tour drove by the falling apart stone house with just a mention of him being born there.

 

Now, Post -  LMM on Broadway, , they have turned the actual house into an admission required gift shop, and an adjacent building is a small but nice museum of the history of the area. Grounds are nicely landscaped.

That's about it.   The abovementioned tour stops there for about a half hour, which is more than enough time to see everything. 

 

However, Nevis is beautiful, so it is recommended to take the tour and also see the rest of the island.  Lunch is at a nice beach bar on Pinney's beach, with time for a swim after, or to explore neighboring beach bars.

It was pre COVID (open to general public)

Take a taxi (about $30/35 per cab each way) to Reggie Beach Pier to catch sea shuttle to Nevis (think it was $20/25 ppp each way) to Charleston port.  There was no actual timetable with plenty of transfers.  Ample taxis at Nevis port for tours etc.  if time, head to Sunshine’s for a couple of killer bees.  You have been warned! -

Additional:

There will also be plenty of shuttle minibus taxis to Reggie and return to ship (Not sure about the fare but work on $10/12 pp e//w)
