Covid Testing Options

Recommended Posts

I have a planned cruise in September.  I am so excited, but nervous because as I'm searching where to get a covid test as the time nears, everything says results in 1-2 days, and since we can't test before 2 days, I'm really concerned that I won't have the test results in time.  Now I don't know if some places have rapid tests and just not mentioning it online, but anyway, can you suggest some places that do have the rapid tests or what did you do to ensure timely results?

If you get a PCR test, yes, 1-2 days. But no vaccinated person should get a PCR test to cruise.

Not sure which area you're from but here almost all drugstores and urgent care places have the rapid tests (a few hours).

We have used the RCCL-recommended eMed proctored test for our 6 post-restart cruises (and will use it again for our cruise in a couple of weeks). Fast. Easy. Done at the kitchen table while sipping coffee in the morning. And a test report within 15 seconds of showing the proctor our negative results.

For us, when I submit the receipt for the test kits to my insurance company, they cover 100% of the costs. Note: the Federal Government only requires insurers to reimburse the first $12.

Welcome to CC and coming out of lurk mode.

Most proctored test providers have results in a few hours or less.

You can use free government tests (or any FDA authorized test) & get proctored by 3rd party sites like RapidTestAndTrace online for $20. Results will be emailed during your 15-20 minute session while you’re still on the video call.
