Quarantined Posted July 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2022 Back in January I had the unfortunate luck of catching covid on our cruise: Today we got off the Edge after a wonderful 7 night cruise from Barcelona to Rome. So, despite not having the most positive memories of the previous cruise, that did not cloud our experiences this time around. An unexpected effect of the need for quarantine cabins is that we where upgraded from our ocean view cabin on deck 3 (which was used as a quarantine area for staff) to an infinity veranda on deck 7 free of charge. A friend travelling with us was similarly upgraded from his porthole veranda on deck 6 (which was used for quarantined guests) to an infinity veranda on deck 7. All in in a very pleasant surprise!

So pleased for your upgrade…you deserve it after your last cruise experience.
hrhdhd Posted July 30, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2022 Yes, I was upgraded in March from an OV to an IV, too. 😀 I resisted the Move Up offer because I figured I'd get bumped up anyway.
Susanb10567 Posted July 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2022 So just curious…what staterooms are currently being used for Covid positive passengers on the Edge…we are scheduled to sail in September from Rome to Greece.
Homosassa Posted July 30, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2022 Finding out your cabin was taken for quarantine purposes can be a crap shoot as to the new cabin. We have had our cabin taken for quarantine purposes on both our Celebrity cruises in the last six months. The reassignment on the first cruise would be considered an upgrade by many (inside to balcony). We do not like balcony cabins, but the cabin location was in the same general area of the ship and was basically the same size as the cabin we had booked. When we had problems because of the idiots next door leaving their balcony door open at all times, Guest Relations went above and beyond in making things right. We had not asked for compensation. The last cruise we were reassigned and the reassigned cabin was not acceptable. It was all the way forward on an upper deck and was so tiny that it was apparent the cabin had originally been designed for single occupancy by ship staff. It took five hours to be assigned an acceptable alternative cabin.
