Has onboard internet improved?

Was on Majestic July 9 sailing. 2k pax onboard. Internet basically non-existent, was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I was on the Emerald in Jan and Regal in March, both worked perfectly then.

Seems like something changed for the worse fleet-wide during the Spring...

No good, then we had a lot of fog on the Majestic sailing back to Vancouver and that made things worse.

Fog has nothing to do with the satellite-based Internet performance. Don't believe it if guest services tells you that, it's just plain wrong!

I suspect it may also depend on what you are trying to do. We were on B2B cruises on the Grand from Vancouver to Whittier (Anchorage) and back to Vancouver in June. Since we had to fill out the ArriveCan app in Whittier, we got one day of internet. I would say that I thought response was fine for checking email/surfing, etc. I was not attempting to stream videos or make wifi calls. Also, this was the day that most of the passengers were embarking/disembarking so there may have been less usage overall.

Both Majestic's about 1700 and the Grand about 1500

That tells me the ship was less than half full and I continue to contend that a lot of the reason why internet experiences last year and early this year was good was due to low capacity, and now that ships are sailing full, the internet is poor.

One more thing I will add is that the internet seems poor based on peoples inability to step away from their phones and social media sites for a week and just enjoy the solitude.  If everyone was just using it to check email periodically or for emergency purposes, the internet would likely perform better.

Summer vacation started and more "internet-savvy" families started going on 7-day cruises.

Not really. On Caribbean Princess last month.

I could read emails, scroll Facebook (usually...) and maybe pull up news stories.

I essentially could not post on CC. If I could it was one post & then it would get wonky.

Honestly seemed like a combo of not so great internet plus that CC on my phone didn't seem to work as well as CC on my laptop.
