Embarking in Nice

For those who are embarking in Nice - just a heads-up.  You will need to complete a Passenger Locator Form for entry to France.

No it’s only for arrival by air, that said we did the online forms back in May when we flew to Nice for Onwards maiden. British Airways required us supply details online before check in, we had to supply proof of vaccination from the NHS but when it came to the locator it was just a tick box to say we had one, after that no one actually asked to see it.

It may not even be asked for on arrival to Nice (it being a small airport), but not worth risking not having it.  Don’t mess with the French!

Indeed, just don't. I recall a P&O cruise probably about a decade ago. Those who've sailed them will be aware that at the sailaway of the final port before returning to Southanpton the Union flags are everywhere on the pool deck areas. Those who want them are handed small flags to wave as the Cruise Director does the whole Rule Britannia routine, and the noise really ramps up into a crescendo.

 

It was mayhem, a gorgeous sunny early evening, and the CD announces 'let's sock it to the French with Rule Britannia one more time before we drop the ropes'. Five minutes later he's back on the intercom announcing 'unfortunately sailaway is delayed, the French authorities are now asking that all non-European passport holders on board must report to the theatre, and have the local customs officers check all details'!! Two hours later we sailed.

No I wouldn’t risk not doing it but it’s annoying when you go to all that effort and nobody is interested.

Totally agree!

 

We did a couple of cruises last year;  we hadn’t filled out a PLF for our return home to Ireland on the first trip (didn’t realise we’d need one).  We couldn’t check in for our flight (on Aer Lingus) without it.  Second trip, filled it out.  Flew with Ryanair - they didn’t even ask for it!   Neither time was it checked when we arrived into Dublin.

This is confusing.  The UK Gov website says:

 

All travellers

All travellers should familiarise themselves with the entry rules for France before travel.

From 1 August 2022, all COVID-19 travel restrictions for travellers to France have been lifted. The rules that previous applied to travellers coming to France no longer apply:

• you are no longer required to present proof of vaccination
• you are no longer required to fill out any forms prior to your arrival in France, such as a justification for travel or a sworn statement
• you are no longer required to show proof of a negative PCR or antigen test upon arrival in France

This also applies to travel between metropolitan France and each of the French overseas territories.

Similarly, no travel justification is required by the French authorities to travel to another country from France.

 

We, like several of you, will be entering France on a private bus from Genoa.

It only applies to those arriving by air as has been posted previously by Riocca.  I neglected to qualify this in the OP.

@Azamazingal It is the same information that I found on offical sites here in Austria. We will use the shuttle from Genoa.

If you do fill out a passenger locator form for France, and it is no longer required, it won’t cause a problem.
