I disagree.  Why would it be OK to take something that is not yours?

What are you disagreeing about?

S/he never said it was OK

All s/he said was that it would be difficult to prove that as a crime unless clear video evidence exist of theft.

Btw, RCL ship is not a court of law and RCL goal here is not of convicting someone.  Just pressure immoral party enough to fess up and hand over money to the rightful owner.

OP shudnt be arguing with casino manager.  Security is the correct party

There's still the issue that someone  likely took/stole it.   It's really two separate issues.  One, someone probably went through another person's bag and took it and second, someone (prob same person) cashed it in.   This thread really isn't about a "lost" ticket.  It's about someone possibly stealing from another person's bag.

Some posts make me wonder how some treat other people's posessions or what they do when they find something that isn't theirs.  Moral equivalency just doesn't work for me.    It's one thing to find a $20 bill on the sidewalk in a busy area and quite another to see someone drop it and still keep it.  As a child, I accidentally left a purse with $5 in it on a bench when we were shopping.  Someone turned in the bag but kept the cash.  It was so obviously a child's purse, yet they had no problem stealing from me.

Had almost same experience. Was 10 when went to Movie Theater first time by myself. After buying Ticket Food and Drink had $7 left in my Kids Wallet along with a Picture. Wallet fell out pocket on Movie Theater Floor while was watching show, was turned in with Picture but minus the Cash.

I feel for the op. We dropped an envelope on the atrium stairs on boarding. Inside was 300 euros and my credit card. It was handed into guest services and nothing was taken out of it. Really lucky and thank you to whoever handed it in.

We had a similar experience many years ago on our first Royal cruise.  I left my small purse in the Windjammer, on a window ledge next to me.  Not smart, but I had vacation brain.  lol  I was back in our cabin when I realized it, and ran up multiple flights of stairs.  I went running in the door, only to see the sweetest couple sitting at the table we had vacated.  They saw the purse and decided to sit there so no one would take it, and if the purse owner (me) didn't return before they finished breakfast, bring it to customer service.  Everything still in it, and I bought them a drink later that day.  🙂  I was very fortunate.

On the newer ships, you don't put your card in a slot.  You tap it on a sensor.  It stays green while you are playing.  When you tap out, it turns red. (then blue, for "ready for next player")  So the machine tracks you while it is green from your tap.  🙂

Thank you.  What happens if you forget to tap out? Does it just log you out when the next person taps in? Do you have to set up a pin before you start playing?

Let's think about what the end game is here.

I don't see any way the OP gets their money back (unless RCI wants to be nice).  The back of the ticket says they're (RCI) isn't responsible for "lost or stolen" tickets.  So RCI doesn't have to give the money back.

I don't think RCI, even assuming the catch the person who took the ticket, can force that person to give money to the OP.  Maybe I'm wrong there.

So, presumably, the OP wants the thief punished.  And RCI might do that.  But will RCI actually tell the OP what the punishment is?  How much punishment is enough?

This is all very interesting to me. If that had happened to me, I would have just thought "oh well, my bad" because I wouldn't think Royal would go to great lengths to find something I lost. Good to know. But having read the whole thing I am curious if maybe there was some excessive alcohol consumption? I like to drink - don't get me wrong but I think I would have noticed that I didn't have my sea pass card before the next morning and definitely would have missed my hair brush! I have left and lost things in my life for sure but chalk it up to my stupidity. Not that excess alcohol consumption means it's ok to steal from that person but it means that maybe the ticket wasn't in the bag, maybe the OP doesn't really recall what happened. That's all I am saying.

RC may not claim responsibility for stolen tickets, but they better be concerned about casino-related crime occurring in their casinos.

The person said they left the casino with the ticket and went to a bar on the ship.  They left the bag and ticket lying there while in the restroom (which on any ship I have been on is not actually even inside the bar but some distance away).    So if the ticket was taken from the bag then it did not occur in the casino.    No idea why you would say "crime occurring in their casinos."    And we don't even know if the ticket was cashed, played, or thrown away.    In any event, it is clearly indicated on it that it is a bearer note and anyone can cash it.    To try to blame Royal or the casino is wrong.    They may be able to help in some way by checking cameras, etc, but they did nothing to cause or allow the loss of the ticket and they have no obligation to do anything to right this "wrong."   Any action they may take is voluntary on their part IMO.   We can have a lot of valid complaints about things on the ships, but they have no culpability in this very sad event.

They left their bag at the bar that is in the casino

or did they go to ANOTHER bar

Confirm that with OP before going off on a tangent

Security are already looking into it for OP

Chinese whispers, next they will be at a Sandals resort in Aruba

OP is not blaming the casino either

suggest you read the WHOLE thread

Still waiting for OP to update all with outcome

The vultures have arrived without reading the complete thread and are starting to go off on tangents and make strange assumptions

let’s stick to the issue in hand regarding a ticket being  stolen (removed) lost in the casino at the bar

>$200 in value

contents of handbag irrelevant

OP is not blaming anyone

security looking into it

Happy Days!

Sorry, but perhaps you are the one who did not read everything,  " I then visited a bar for a drink + sorrento pizza."   The casino bar is just stools at the bar, no tables or places to leave things, and she clearly said she left the casino and visited a bar.

Well, I'm assuming they're concerned about ANY crime on the ship.  In the casino, Sorrentos, theater, cabin, wherever.

But again, what is the endgame?  The OP getting their money back?  Doubtful.  The "thief" getting found?  Probable, but will we know?  The "thief" getting  punished?  Probable, but will we ever know that happens, much less what the punishment is?

Will RCI tell the victim what happened to another guest?

Maybe no end game

maybe no result

maybe OP never returns

maybe just maybe we will never know

OP admitted their mistake

OP is not blaming casino

OP actually isn’t blaming anyone

OP is not seeking compensation

we know OP used their sea pass card when ticket was printed, so OP OWNS that ticket.

There is history of the tickets output, we await news of security or casino traced to who cashed it

If it was cashed or recycled and then cashed

We know RC is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets

Says so in small print on back of every ticket printed.

We would like to think RC would help a valuable customer to resolve the issue

If I was a business owner, I would want to help all my customers, regardless that I was not liable.

Like when you park your car in a grocery car park, they are not responsible if someone steals something from your car.

But you would like to think they would assist with providing camera evidence to assist the customer.

Someone fraudulently trying to cash in a voucher that wasn't theirs is casino-related crime.

If no one cashed it in, then that's a different story.

A million percent sure. I always put it in the same part of my bag when I leave the casino. My husband was next to me. Someone else cashed it in..

? I never said my phone was in the bag? It was a phone charger thing.. I can even attach the photo of bag and content! Why does everyone need to automatically assume I am lying?!! The voucher was less than 500 but more than 200. Casino manager is from U.K.  he said it is my word against the person that cashed it in..I have now got security involved and have filled in a form.

The OP has said a couple of times that the voucher has indeed been cashed in.
