Sailing from Southampton

Hi,

A straight forward question for those of you who have sailed recently from Southampton. On chic nights, we’re there many men wearing DJs or suits. I am happy to dress up where appropriate and want to know if I should pack my DJ / Suit. I really want to know if I would be out of place and want to know what fellow cruisers observed.

Yes or no.

Some wear them, some don't.  You will not be out of place either way.

BTW, we were 19 nights on Silly out of Southamptonin May.

We cruised on Silhouette twice in May. Very few suits and even less DJ's. I don't even take a jacket. Long sleeve shirts, open neck and smart trousers - same for every night.

Even worse standards on our Mediterranean cruise 30/07/22.

Too many colourful button through tee shirts and even shorts in MDR.

OK it was very hot outside, but the dining room is air conditioned.

I saw only a few passenger in jackets and just one DJ.

Standards have slipped.

I’m wondering if Celebrity don’t want to upset passengers.

I did however hear of a mother and adult daughter who were told at Ocean View that they were overdressed and it would be more appropriate if they went to MDR.

We usually travel in suites and the last time I felt the need for anything other than a jacket with an open necked shirt was about 7 years ago when they did away with formal nights. What I would say is that what ever your decide it will not be out of place due to the mix of dress, unless you insist on shorts and a t shirt!

You will find people in kilts and dinner suites but, while not out of place, will be in the minority.
