B2B with different cabins question

Recommended Posts

Hey cruise family,

We are leaving in November on a B2B, but since we booked late we couldn't get the same cabin. (zero percent bummed! I'm cruising!!)

I do have a question: How does this work? Since rooms empty by 8:30 (mostly), can I stick my luggage in the closet of the new room and head out?

You will pack your bags and leave them in the old room, and your cabin attendant will transfer them to the new cabin.Talk to your cabin attendant and they probably will allow you to keep your hung garments on the hangers and will move them to the new cabins on the hangers.

Unfortunately you won't have early access to the new cabin; the cabin attendants don't necessarily makeup B2B cabins any earlier.

Since we are platinum, would that change that?  Also, I hate for him/her to have to also move our stuff. They already have a load. I may ask if we can't just do it. We don't mind and would probably prefer it.

You will need to be out of the cabin just like everybody else. They will take care of cleaning your old cabin, moving your bags, and cleaning your new cabin. You will have breakfast and relax until it is time to meet, all B2B guests will be escorted off the ship to clear Customs. The hallways and cabins are not accessible while the stewards are cleaning to complete the turnaround for the next cruise.

Since platinum can get early access to their cabins on embarkation day, I would assume it would be the same for day 1 of your second cruise.  Hopefully to at least put your money and valuables in the safe so you don’t have to lug them around with you all day.

The only thing Platinums can do is drop things off, which the stewards take care of anyway on B2Bs. I guess like you said you could drop your billfold in the safe but that's about it. Platinum rooms are not ready any earlier than any other rooms. Only Suites get priority nowadays.

I would first checkout what the status of the new cabin is before put anything in the safe.  Remember, once the B2B's clears Passport control and is free to go about your business it will be quite early, probably 1 hour before the new cruise embarkation. You won't know how far along the cabin attendant has made on the new cabin. If you go and checkout your new cabin and see all the drawers still open, closets open, bed unmade, I wouldn't put anything in the safe or in the closets.

That's why it wonderful when you can have the same cabin on a B2B.

The problem with moving your own stuff is it's going to be in the way of the cabin attendant cleaning out your new cabin. You'll be making it MORE difficult for the new cabin attendant.

Keep anything important with you until you can go to your new cabin.  An announcement will be made that the cabins are ready.  Packed luggage will be waiting for you in your new cabin.  You have plenty of time to have a relaxed breakfast/early lunch while you wait to get to your new cabin.  You have access to all the outdoor areas so grab a chair and enjoy a few quiet moments before t he new passengers board and start roaming around the ship.

I know this isn’t what you asked but thought I would chime in. We actually enjoy being in a different cabin on a B2B, feels refreshing, feel like we get organized again, depending on where cabin is feels like a whole new cruise experience.

That’s a good point! Helps me feel better that on our B2B that was switched from Freedom to Spirit, they didn’t manage to keep us in the same cabin on the second leg. This happened to a lot of people on our two sailings. Not sure why they didn’t just move all the B2B people first.

I suppose if you really prefer to move your luggage yourself you can, but you’d have to haul it around with you until your new cabin is available. Sounds like a major pain to me. I’d just let the steward do it, but I would tip him nicely for his time.

Yeah, I didn't care when packing to move. lol Just threw everything in some shopping bags...half bottles of wine, cans of coke... and jammed my suitcase...just left in a pile in the room and they moved everything. 👍

Exactly, I bring along a couple extra “TJM $1 bags” (all the ladies will know what I am talking about) and throw stuff in them. The Room Stewards and really great at moving in a timely manner.

Quick question on B2B-does Carnival know who is doing a B2B while sailing on the first leg, or does one need to let guest services know?

Your best bet is to call Carnival now and ask them to link your bookings.  That way you’re good to go and one less thing to stand in line for onboard.  🙂

Good point!  We booked last minute and couldn’t get the same cabin fir our Mardi Gras cruise in a few weeks. Inside Havana to a suite on the 2nd leg. It will feel like a different cruise!

Our PVP always links ours together so if no PVP my suggestion would be to call Carnival as well.

I love this!! We are excited as this is our 1st B2B and I guess it will feel like a completely new cruise! Can't wait. 🙂

We are on the Pride right now.  Just received our red tags to leave the ship.  New room cards will be left in the slot outside our room in the afternoon.

We have to pack our stuff and they will be moved to the new cabin.

We have to vacate the room by 7 AM
