Best price shore excursion guarantee

Has anyone had any luck with this? I see an excursion on my sailing and found the exact same thing (even same name) on Viator for $50 less.

 

Has anyone gone through the process of getting the 110% difference in obc?

I did and was successful, though it was with Princess, not HAL. It is I believe the same program.

 

It was also way, way before Covid.

I have not been successful. HAL typically adds a tiny item of limited value to ensure the excursions aren’t exactly the same. One example, is a pancake on the Flam, Norway train. That makes the excursion 2 or 3 times more expensive than just buying a ticket independently. The train is in walking distance to the ship so it’s easy to do on your own.

 

Another time, it was an “escort” from the ship. Didn’t really need to be escorted off the ship to the excursion instead of just walking off myself to find the tour leader. But since it was “different” than the independent excursion, they wouldn’t honor the guarantee.

We have had success several times and also quick reply to our claims. We successfully entered a claim for an upcoming cruise just a few weeks ago and were happy with the result, getting more than half of our money back in on board credit!

I have had success with the guarantee process.  I think it is a benefit for both the passenger and cruise line.
