gunnywife Posted September 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2022 Just talked to friends on the Alaska cruise on the Grand. It's rainy and cold. They said the food is good and the crew are wonderful. Helpful and friendly. Tomorrow they will be in Skagway. So that port is open again. But no train ride. while there. So far there aren't shows as we knew them. And some of the amenities are gone. but those are just little things. They are enjoying themselves and having a good time.

DougH Posted September 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2022 I was on the Grand for two weeks in June. Great cruise and crew was very good. We were in Skagway just a couple days before the rockslide hit the pier

The train was running in Skagway. Not sure what shows you knew in the past, but there were production shows and comedy when we were aboard

Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted September 5, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Interesting...we just got off Discovery 2 weeks back. The train was running in Skagway...it has been all along. The rockslide did not stop its operation. The only difference that we saw was that even though we were tied up at the very end of the affected pier (rockslide) we were "tendered" over to the small marina right by that pier. And we rode the train...
