I bid for an upgrade on my Enchanted Princess October 1 sailing.  I got upgraded!  Bid $210/pp for upgrade from balcony to mini-suite.  Paid for upgrade as directed.  Was pretty seamless.

Congrats!  How long is your cruise?

Congratulations!!

Im on the same cruise (first date cruises starting the bid process, Oct 1)

Unfortunately, I have not won our bids that we placed (yet).

The interesting thing I wanted to share is I have been able to modify our different bids until this evening (9 days before embarkation). Now that web site (from link on email) has “bid received” where I use to be able to change amount with the sliding bar. There is no way to change the bid amount or cancel the bid.

Just sharing that info to everyone that has been curious 🙂

Cheers,

John

Thank you!   Very important information if they close it off from changes or cancellations 9 days before.

They are probably working that cruise right now and close it off while working on it.
Let us know if it stays locked for a while.

Good luck!

I'm booked on Discovery (3 B2B's, Oct 1-22) and it's been sold out for weeks.   All 3 rooms on GTY (2 balconies and 1 inside).   I bid on an outside (lowball) but didn't get it.    My rooms were assigned this week......ended up with 3 different rooms (all balconies) on the Dolphin Covid Deck.     All 3 rooms were better categories than the ones I guaranteed.......that is if you don't mind being on a previous covid floor.   Not sure why they gave me a free upgrade to a balcony from an inside without a bid?

Are your rooms in the covid area?  Wasn’t it port side forward?
How do you know you didn’t get it?  Did they notify you that your bid was not accepted?

You got a free UG, if you were given a balcony from an inside. That’s a nice UG.

I've got 2 rooms Port Side and 1 on Starboard.

They did not notify me that I didn't get the bid, but since they assigned me a balcony and I only bid on an ocean view, my assumption is that it wasn't accepted.

Yes, I'm lucky to have gotten such a good upgrade.....wasn't expecting it, that's for sure.

That’s great!  Let us know if you’re able to    get them to change to 1 room either ahead or OB.  Will be a lot easier for you

Is it showing unavailable?

I love to unpack and forget it!
Best of luck.

I wonder if you can now bid on a minisuite.  🤷‍♂️

Is the bid still open for you?  Could you go in and bid in a higher category balcony or minisuite?  Do you now have to cancel your current bid for an OV?

It never locked for me (same Oct 1 cruise), I actually cancelled all my bids this morning

Bids are still open on all 3 cruises.      I'm not going to try and bid on anything else, I just bid to get out of the inside cabin.    I did cancel the bid just in case they decided to downgrade me (that would be my luck).   It says you can cancel up to 1 day before your cruise provided your cc hasn't been charged.   I don't like that kind of system.   I'd like to see my bid approval before they charge my cc.   Either way, I'll stick with my balconies (they were all booked under a casino comp, so I'm just happy to have a balcony anywhere on the ship).   I'm sailing solo, so I prob won't be hanging out much on my balcony anyway, but at least I can look out at the ocean (I'm not a fan of being inside with no window).

This bidding is a win win for Princess. By three days before sailing there are no refunds from Princess. If they take a bid for a cancelled cabin they get double revenue. The passenger gets a deal (Maybe) but doesn't know the location of their new cabin. There is no down side to Princess. I did not receive an invite to bid on my Nov 10 sailing but since I'm in a full suite I didn't expect one. Because of this new system I booked a regular Mini Suite for my next cruise and think I'll get a bid invitation. I would have gone for Club Class but maybe I'll get a bargain, maybe not. Others may also book a cabin below what they usually sail in to see if a bid is put out.

So we submitted bids on 7 upgrades on our Oct 8 cruise:  club class mini all the way up to owner's suite.

We just received 6 separate messages indicating we did not win our bid.  None of the 6 messages indicate which bids were rejected, so I don't know which of the 7 has not yet been rejected.

Did you try another bid on those 6 rejected ones to see if there were any options to bid on?  IDK if they leave everything open?

I would bid On the one I really wanted the most and bid a little higher.

I wonder if they had a lot of bids or just not enough cabins available?

Thank you for feedback, as we are learning.

UPDATE: so about 80 minutes after receiving the 6 rejection emails indicating we did not win 6 upgrade bids, we got our 7th email saying we won our bid to the Window Suite.

We are booked in an MF mini-suite, and bid close to the minimum $605 pp for the Window suite.

Truthfully, I did not expect to win any our bids because I submitted close to minimum bids and our cruise showed unavailable in all the suites (Oct 8 Discovery Princess).

I've never stayed in a suite on Princess so not sure whether to jump for joy at getting the Window suite or wonder what the heck am I getting that someone else did not want.

I have not received any rejection messages yet on the two classes we bid on, just that message "received offer" and locked the bidding amount I could adjust (for Oct 1 cruise).

So.... Are you sayin I still have a chance (lol 🙂 )

Gut feel, they are sending out bid confirmations and waiting for upgrade payments from the passengers that are in the class I bid on.

Maybe once they purchase the bid they won and move up their cabin becomes available for our offer??

Interesting question...I did not think I had a choice to decline the upgrade once I won it.  I wonder what would have happened had I not paid the upgrade bid amount--it showed as a balance due on my account so I assumed that if I had not paid I would have lost my entire reservation.

Seems like they could have just taken my credit card number at the time of bid, and charged it automatically when I won the bid (like Celebrity does) to make the process more seamless.

I also think that sending rejection emails to all bids except one is unnecessary--they could have just sent the one email notifying that we won.  I had initially just assumed I lost all my bids when I received the 6 rejection emails.

Bid Just Accepted!!! and we are so excited to sail in a balcony again!  We usually book inside cabins for the cost savings and haven't been in a balcony since our first Hawaii cruise on the Island Princess back in 2006.

Details:

We originally booked our obstructed ocean view cabin for our upcoming cruise to Hawaii on the Ruby  using a California Resident Only rate that came with great rates and awesome on board credit.

Here's the details:

Original cabin - Obstructed ocean view cabin E625  $1100 pp

Upgraded to Balcony cabin BD Aloha deck A734 additional cost $475 pp, plus additional cost of Princess Platinum insurance of $38 pp.

Original email bid offer for a balcony was $450, so we bid $475 thinking we might have a better chance over those that bid the absolute lowest amount.

So we went from an $1100 obstructed ocean view to a $1575 Balcony.  We are pleased at how it all turned out and I verified that all our on board credits are still there.

Luggage tags have already been updated in Princess website.

We received our medallions yesterday, hope they are also updated to reflect the new cabin number.

You won your bid!!! At the very bottom of your conformation bid are letters and numbers ,those same numbers are on reject notices on the bottom of the notice

if you match up the numbers you will know what you won and which were rejected.
