Earning points playing at Table Games?

I was recently on the Carnival Vista and noticed that I never got points playing table games like BJ and Craps even though I had my card swiped and bought in for about 200-300 each time. Admittedly I wasn’t very lucky and didn’t play more than an hour each time at $10-15 per bet but am wondering what I should do to maximize chances to get credit for playing at table games.

Or should i not bother and just play VP / slots which tracks points much more accurately?

You do get points but they are not visible to you. The casino keeps track of points at the tables. The dealers have a little screen where they swipe in players, bet amount, etc. I guess you could ask a host for how many points you've earned if you're curious but I don't know if they'd tell you...never asked.

One thing that seems to be fairly consistent is slot players earn points and offers more consistently than table players.

As I understand, you earn points playing slots, but you get rated at the tables.  It's easy to quantify your points,  it's just your bet $ x # of bets. On the table they can quantify the # of bets you play by the little light under the space where you place your chips but they estimate your average bet $ by walking around and observing after initially inputting a $ amount based on your first bet. Either way you're earning your way to those wonderful free cruises.

So does that mean that the points accrued from playing table games are never reflected in the points seen when you insert your S&S card at the slots? Cos I never saw that during my cruise.

Is there a way to ‘keep track’ of how many points you are accruing playing table games similar to slots / VP? Ask a casino host?

You can ask for your ratings from any casino supervisor or the host. It's not the same thing as points but it does help you earn perks,  from free steakhouse dinner  to heavily discounted or even free cruises. The cruise I'm on now was free  and I am really happy because it is a great cruise so far!

Yep.  I used to get better offers when I just played slots.  Now that I play both slots and Roulette, my offers aren't as good although I can play sometimes for a few hours on a $100 buy in at the wheel.

One thing about MSC - they add your table play to your card the following day so you always know where you stand.

It shouldn't be "that" subjective.  I'm not a high roller and I'm not a loud player.  The Roulette wheel is a bit more subdued than the Craps table.  Shouldn't be penalized for that.

Correct. Your points on the machines don't include table play.

Side note, some people have reported getting rated better when they tip the dealers, but obviously YMMV.

I find it helps to be a winner too. I never play enough to get noticed even by a bar tender. I did find my name on a list of people carrying 5K off the ship. After that I am getting cruises with drinks everywhere and my only expense is port fees and taxes plus the auto gratuities.

I have no proof, but I believe the amount of time spent in the casino is also a measure that contributes to the score.

Using the Hub App, you can see your points at the end of the day (I usually look the next morning, not sure at what point they're updated). It will have a breakdown for tables and slots.

In Jan on the Celebration the only points we showed was slots, zero points from hours and hours of $25 BJ play. Boarding MG this weekend, we'll see if that's still the case.

On the Liberty this weekend, the only time I checked was after my first night. I was in there for almost 3 hours and managed about 900 points (BJ only).

It seems there's no points for the poker table. I see the points for blackjack and slots, but nothing for poker.

On the Magic this past April and I could see my points on the Carnival Hub app. Only played craps and BJ. Also, one of the other guys at the craps table told me to always buy in with cash, rather than bringing chips to the table. This way the pit bosses will have a better idea of how much money you're putting in.
