Freedom vs Magic

DH and I are currently booked on the Freedom for a Spring Break cruise. We just got an email deal that seems great for the Magic but I don’t know much about either ship to be honest. Both cruises are out of Port Canaveral…

The Freedom is a 5 day and goes to Amber Cove & Grand Turk.

The Magic is a 6 day a goes to the same ports plus Half Moon Key. ( We’ve been to AC and GT before but not to HMC)

There is no price difference between the 2 cruises. What would you choose?

I’d take the 6 day on Magic if they’re the same price. Magic is bigger than Freedom, but not too big. It has a nice layout and also has a separate non smoking casino on Deck 4 which is nice. Been on Magic 3 or 4 times since restart, and will be again November 5th.

Thanks for your help. DH keeps looking at different cruises every time a new email comes!

Awesome!  Hope you have a lot of fun!

Freedom and the other Conquest class ships are nice too, but Magic is just a touch more modern in its design.  Two electrical outlets in the room, more activities (ropes course, thermal suites, lanai, etc).

I think Conquest class ships are perfect for shorter cruises, but something like the Magic will be appreciated for anything longer than four days.

Gotta be a trick question.   You get an extra day and an extra port for the same $$??   No brainer

It was…. And it wasn’t…. I don’t know anything about either ship having never been on either. We have been on the Breeze and the Dream before, so I guess that does help us with the Magic  And we’ve been on the Liberty, so that helps a bit with the Freedom.

One more question, does anyone know if there are one or two elegant nights on a 6 day cruise? I thought there was just one on the 1st sea day, but when I looked up Carnival menus it seems they are standard fleet wide. Day 6 (our 2nd and last day of the cruise)  seems to have another elegant night menu. I thought they didn’t do that on the last night because people are packing that night. I just want to be prepared with the right amount of clothes.

We just got off the Freedom yesterday.  We really enjoyed the cruise, but we enjoyed the Magic a teensy bit better.  The only problem was that the Freedom docked in both Amber Cove and Grand Turk after the Mardi Gras had docked.  The pool in Amber Cove was wall-to-wall people and Margaritaville wasn’t much better.  I will not book a Carnival cruise again before checking to see which other ships might be sharing ports.

you'll love HMC. it was our absolute favorite beach port. a relaxing, beautiful day on the sand.

Thanks so much! We are really looking forward to going there because we’ve never been, and it will be nice to visit a new port.

I would like to know this information as well.
