St. Thomas Excursions

We are going to be in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas on Dec. 28th as part of our Symphony 7 day cruise. It's our first time in St. Thomas and after looking at the offerings for excursions, I have to say they're a bit boring. It seems all the excursions are pretty much going to the beach, tour around town, snokeling and shopping, so that's not too exciting for us unless it's in like an exotic place or something. Being from South Florida, we go to the Keys and dive a lot so we were looking to do something new and experience something more exciting! I realize this is our personal opinion, as people from other states would consider snorkeling exciting since they don't do it often. I see the only semi-exciting thing on the excursion list, is doing the skyride. Does anyone know some other cool things that we can do over there? We would love to  for example ride horses, or drive jeeps or atvs off-roading, ziplining, etc... While we would love to stick with RCL and their excursions, we wouldn't mind doing a 3rd party if it is worth it 🙂

Tree Limin' Extreme is a fantastic zip line facility.  They were an official Royal excursion in 2019 when we went on my 60th birthday.

Go to the ports of call page for St. Thomas, you'll find lots of other options. Stay away from the ship sponsored excursions and you'll be able to find some more adventurous things to do.

Are you in port long enough to go over to St John?  With 2/3 of the island’s being National Park, it provides a nice opportunity to hike, see ruins from the rum-making days - and have some nicer beaches than on St Thomas. It’s Cinnamon Bay has just reopened after repairs of Hurricane Irma damage. 
 

We visited the Synagogue in downtown Charlotte Amalie. It is one of only a few locations in the world that have a sand floor (another being in Curaçao). It is up a hill from the shopping area.   Spending a week on St Thomas, you start looking for activities to supplement the daily beach trip.  Ate lunch at Greengos Mexican cantina in one of the passages in downtown.
 

But you’ve pretty much figured out the situation - beaches - but a lot of very nice ones.  Sapphire and Lindqvist (Smith Bay) often have Jewel-tone water with views of the nearby islands (not just flat cays).

We loved them, too! They were not offered as a ship’s excursion when we went so we booked privately and had a great day there.
