Took a walk down canal street. For those who didn’t know Caesar’s is putting like a billion dollars into Harrah’s New Orleans and changing it to Caesar’s. And building a new hotel. They have made a ton of progress since January. That hotel is looking great.

Only the American Queen in port today. That’s a river cruise  ship that runs between here and Memphis I believe.

The old harrahs hotel is across the street from the casino which is pretty inconvenient

This guy was eyeballing me while I was taking that picture. Fancy pants is heading to the four seasons. I said “nice socks” I’m pretty sure he’s wearing Christmas socks.

It’s always possible fancy pants was attracted to or disgusted by my t-shirt. My metal shirts attract a lot of attention. In just an hour this morning I’ve been approached three times about my GWAR shirt.

Guess I need to get caught up on todays trip.

 

Did you know five of the six longest bridges in North America are in south Louisiana? I go over one every time I come here. I could go over two. I typically bypass #3 the 18 mile Atchafalaya Basin bridge by taking highway 190. It saves about 20 minutes but you have to deal with changing speeds and small town cops.

 

Coming in at #5 the Bonnet Carre spillway bridge at 11

miles long.

This time we’re at the residence inn on st Charles street. Right next to the intercontinental. I’m pretty sure this is new. I think they were working on it when I stayed at the intercontinental last year.

One thing I like here is self-parking is available. You can park in this garage for intercontinental as well.

A lot New Orleans hotels just have valet.

 

Valet here is $39 so it only saves a few dollars but i like parking myself. Intercontinental valet is $50 so you save a bit more parking yourself there.

I like to park where nobody will park by me so I went all the way to the roof.

Second floor has a lot of sitting areas. Indoor and outdoor. This is where the breakfast area is, meeting rooms, and guest laundry.

Outside here is a good place to watch the St. Charles Street car. And if you want to ride, you can catch it across the street.

Oh forgot to mention. Back outside on the second floor. Tallest building in the state of Louisiana right there 

 

Used to be known as One Shell Square. Now it’s the Hancock Whitney Center. 697 feet.

Not bad considering. It’s $50 next door. It was $45 at the jung last time.
