Price drop - how to I get the cheaper price

Call Carnival and ask to rebook at the pier price. Be forewarned that if you original booking had perks (I.e. OBC) and the current fare ties not, you will loose the previous perks.

I noticed today that my Feb 2023 cruise price has dropped about $100.  I'm not yet at the final payment due date.  How do I get that price difference back? I booked the cruise by calling Carnival.

No need to rebook at all. Just call and ask for the lower price. They will recalculate it and send you a new invoice.

Read the fine print on the lower fare code before you decide to sit on hold.  The casino offer we booked now says "New bookings only" and we can't get a lower rate.  Some of the other rate codes say the same.  Unless you booked Early Saver, you can't price match a rate code that says "New bookings only".

It's best to call Carnival - they've been introducing new offers with plenty of restrictions.  Early this year, we booked an offer in a Family Harbor room.  A couple months later, we had a better offer in which we could book two rooms for ~$100 less.  Even though it wasn't past the final payment date, our original offer had a $300 penalty (the deposit).  We cancelled, anyway -> when we originally booked, it was $1300 for all four of us in one room or $2000 for two rooms.  The new reservation was $1200 for two rooms, or $1500 after the penalty was added.  So, $200 more for our own room (and $500 savings from the initial offer) was a bargain IMO.

I just called Carnival because the rates went down on my Alaska cruise in July 2023 and they are now offering an onboard credit.  And they made the adjustments in a matter of minutes.  At this point I had only paid the deposit.  I was able to save $270.

This may be a stupid question, but I've searched and cannot find an answer. How do I know what category of fare I booked originally and whether it's eligible for a price drop adjustment? We booked an Aug. 2023 Alaska cruise, and the fare for the same cabin type (spa balcony) is now roughly $180 less with the "not so spooky early saver" fare. I assume since I booked right when this cruise opened up that it was also an Early Saver fare, and the "Guest notes" in my confirmation email include, "Early Saver T&C apply." I called today and asked for an adjustment, and the representative told me my cabin class is not eligible (8P). The cabin next to ours is available, so that's the one I used to do a mock booking. What do you all think? Should I try filling out the price protection form even though I was told NO over the phone? I would lose $50 in OBC in exchange for a $360 decrease in cruise fare. Thanks for any advice!

I called for a price drop request last week.  $30 difference.  Both the old and new rates have a $50 OBC. Both rates are early saver.

Carnival to said I could get the price adjustment, but the $50 OBC for the new rate was for "new bookings only. " Therefore, the rep said that switching to the new rate would be a net $20 increase.

Was I given correct info?

Even if the rep was wrong, if you call for a price drop, confirm you will get any OBC with the new rate.
