xray0111 Posted September 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2022 When going thru TSA with a CPAP machine should I mark the machine as "CPAP"? Should I go ahead and open it? It's about the size of a laptop computer. I'll also have some papers from work to review that I will put in one of the pockets while on the flight. I'm just trying to make it easier for TSA and me to get thru the security. Thanks, XRAY
time4u2go Posted September 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2022 Are you talking about getting on a cruise ship or on an airplane? TSA does not do passenger screening for cruise ships.
xray0111 Posted September 27, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted September 27, 2022 Sorry, I failed to make it clear. I'm referring to TSA at the airports.

crzndeb Posted September 27, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2022 I have always put my Cpap through the scanner in its original Resmed bag. I have never had to remove it from the bag.
HicksRA Posted September 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2022 They know what it is from the X-ray and the case. They see hundreds a day. I sometimes put mine in my carry on bag with no questions but have been asked on one occasion to take it out.
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) Throw your cpap bag in a bin and send it through X-ray. No special labels or anything else. As pointed out, hundreds go through security each day at each airport. Since I have precheck, my cpap just stays in my roller and does not even come out if I am hand caring. Or in my checked luggage if I have any. I travel almost weekly and have carried a cpap for many years. If I am cruising, my cpap stays in my Che led luggage for air and cruise checkin. Ret MP Posted September 27, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2022 https://www.tsa.gov/travel/frequently-asked-questions/am-i-allowed-carry-my-cpap-machine-onboard-plane-do-i-have-remove Am I allowed to carry my CPAP machine onboard the plane, do I have to remove it from my carry-on? A nebulizer, CPAP, BiPAP and APAP must be removed from its carrying case and undergo X-ray screening. Facemasks and tubing may remain in the case. You may provide a clear plastic bag to place the device through the X-ray.

PolicromaSol Posted September 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 28, 2022 For what it's worth the TSA has never given my husband's CPAP any grief. Me on the other hand, I've gotten crap for carrying a light pen. (As in one that lights up so you can see in the dark while you write.)
Joseph2017China Posted September 28, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 28, 2022 my wife's is in her back-pack, it is a travel size and a battery, and they have never asked for removal. Although her wheelchair spare batter is often looked at, but it is just a minor inconvenience for safety
sdrocks Posted September 28, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 28, 2022 As others have posted, my husband has taken his CPAP on an airplane numerous times with no problems.
