Carnival Vista: No Hot Water All Day

This morning we were notified that everyone would be getting $100/cabin OBC to make up for the water problem. I think the compensation for the inconvenience is pretty reasonable.

I don't remember how many cabins Vista has but they had to have spent at least $50-$100K in OBC ship-wide to keep everyone happy.

Seems fair.

Aggravating, I'm sure but on a cruise I'd just go with the flow (or lack, thereof).

Ten days without hot water/utiiities during Storm Sandy convinced me that a cold water shower beats none at all.

Hope it gets fixed and everyone can be happy again (LOL)

A cruise vacation and a superstorm are a little different and come with different expectations I'd say.

Yes, but you go with what you are dealt with.  Ship happens.  At home and on vacation and anywhere in between.

No sense in complaining over something you have no control over.  Not worth the stress!

Nobody here on this post is complaining that I can see.

Hot water is out once again!

On the bright side, we got another note in our cabin that we would be getting an additional $100/cabin in OBC for a total of $200/cabin!

There's one full day left and most specialty dining is booked solid for the rest of the cruise so I'm not sure what we're going to use the additional spend on...but it certainly is a nice gesture.

As someone who has worked in a commercial kitchen and has used a commercial dishwasher, I'm aware of how some of them work. I'm also aware that if you don't have hot water to begin with, most commercial models don't boost the temp enough to make it go from room temp to where it would need to be to sanitize the dishes.

But if you care to enlighten me, feel free

As usual, Cheng enlightened all of us.  🙂

That's cool, err not 😬 But I digress, no reason to shower if they're book solid.

I really appreciate Cheng's enlightenment. It adds a TON of value to these boards and discussions.

We just got off the Breeze today. We didn't have any cold water for several hours on Monday.

Sounds to me like if the Breeze and Vista can meet up together we'll have the problem solved. 😛

Play it in the casino, bingo or deal or no deal.  Worth trying to turn it into more since it was unexpected!

I was on this cruise as well.  My cabin was without hot water since the original announcement.   Many others said they had had water after a few hours and no problems for the remainder of the cruise.

Full disclosure-I'm not an engineer but I'd assume the explanation is they have multiple boilers that service different areas of the ship.

The line at guest service was ridiculous every day with Karens complaining.

I would probably end up buying some candy, another chocolate shake, a bottle of Gatorade, and then use the rest in the arcade.  I'm 33.

I get that complaining won't do anything but this is a cruise vacation, not a deployment to a warzone or a superstorm as someone else said. Certain things are expected and hot water is one of them. Name calling isn't really a good look.

I've been kind of surprised at the level of nonchalance in this thread. I know a lot of people like to complain about a lot of really petty stuff, but I don't count hot water - or running water at all - to be among the petty stuff.

Par for the course really on this forum. I imagine most of them would be singing a different tune if they were actually on the ship. It's easy to say you wouldn't be bothered when you're not having to deal with the problem firsthand.

Maybe they're just removing tips. As I've learned on Cruise Critic, the only two reasons people go to Guest Services is to get tips removed or to get extra keys made.

I go to get change for the ports and free playing cards (which is done away with now).

I used to have several decks of those playing cards, who knows where they are now. The last time I needed change I just got it in the kiosk.

Yeah we were pretty upset about it. I try not to sound too angry on the forums because people will call me petty. Glad to know there are some on these threads that view not having hot water as a legitimate issue!

I was thinking the same thing. You spend the time and money to take a vacation on a modern cruise ship and you have no hot water? I would not be happy.
