cheers package question

After you purchase  the cheers package  are you charged gratuities  for each drink you  order or is that covered in the price  of the package ?

You are charged an 18% gratuity when you purchase Cheers which covers the gratuities for your drinks. Tipping above and beyond is optional and not expected.

I thought they charged tax in port, not gratuities?

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call). 

 

And the package goes into effect on the second day for sailing from Texas and NY.

Its not included in the 59.95 per day ....its 59.95 plus 10.79 gratuity so 70.75 per day per person...

and of course you can save a bit if you purchase on  line before you cruise

We usually tip a little extra on each drink because the 18% gratuity added really only covers about 5 drinks for us per day.  We love the Alchemy Bar so those are around $11 each before tax and grats.

I've done it both ways and service was great regardless of whether we added extra or not.

I agree. Everyone of course has their own opinions and approaches to tipping but I think it’s a disservice to make new cruisers think they won’t get good service unless they tip above and beyond. The crew are all professionals who take pride in their jobs and do them well.
