Thank you so much for the info! I will just avoid this itinerary. Bummer because HMC is my favorite place on earth and they are somewhat connected.

It is disheartening when a favorite place cannot be entered. I hate sharing this information, but I thought it was important.  Maybe, we will see this lifted soon.

When you travel anywhere, you have to abide by the laws and restrictions of the country you are visiting.  These may be different than what you are used to.  Not sure what cruise itinerary you can do int he Caribbean that doesn't include a stop somewhere that requires vaccine or testing.

Remember these places are relatively poor and don't have the same medical system as the US. Thus the governments are trying to protect their population.

This is about Grand Turk, not HMC. HMC is in the Bahamas and there haven't been any problems with unvaxxed enjoying this destination,

Stick to the topic. (I'm a registered nurse, 100% of my patients that have COVID are fully vaccinated. It does nothing).

We're starting to hear this more and more.   Guessing some were vaccinated but not boosted.  And again. Vaccines don't prevent COVID, they just lessen the effect, especially for those with compromised immunity and elderly.  But you knew that, right?

I refer some of you to CC policy on Covid discussions.

Effective immediately, COVID-related discussion should be limited to actual policy on board ships (and other forms of travel) and its practical application.  Discussion should NOT veer into opinion or debate.

Every one of us has experienced the unprecedented restrictions, disruptions and changes to our cruise travel, work, shopping, schooling, social interactions and so many other aspects of our lives since the global pandemic began in early 2020.  Frankly, we have been inundated with news, information, mis-information, frustrations and opinions. We’ve heard them, we’ve shared them, we’ve argued about them.

Over the past few months, we have heard from many of you that the discussions, debates and arguments about the virus, distancing and masking policies, various politicians’ statements and actions have been overwhelming and divisive. Many topics have derailed or devolved into arguments.  Cruise Critic understands the passion you all have – we have it too! -- and we are confident that we’ve moderated with a light hand and most discussions have run their course. However, there simply are better places on the web to learn about --  and debate --  scientific, medical and political issues.

The good news is….we now have a great deal to look forward to!  Cruise (and travel) is beginning to open up again and it is  time to refocus on why we are here:  our love of cruise!  So, here are the specifics:

We will NOT welcome debate or opinion about medical, scientific, or political aspects of the pandemic. There are a few often repeated trigger items that won’t be allowed:

No statistics about infection rates,

no discussions about where the virus may have started,

no ranting about individual rights,

no commenting about after-effects of vaccinations,

no debate about whether vaccinations or masking are effective,

no anti-vaxxer comments of any kind,

no discussions about which governor or politician or news personality did or said what.

We will welcome information on COVID policies RELATED TO CRUISE. Things like:

vaccination policies issued by individual cruise lines, venues or destinations,

cleaning or distancing procedures in use, practical tips for cruisers or things they might need to know that are different from ports of call to embarkation ports are all valid topics.

official policies issued by cruise line, travel destinations, airlines, etc. regarding requirements for boarding or shore excursions can be shared. This information needs to be on-topic for the specific forum and thread where posted.

We understand that you may be passionate in your opinions on this topic and want to discuss or debate them, and appreciate your understanding that there are more appropriate places than the Cruise Critic Community to do that.  If, however, you are here to talk about the most passionate of vacation travel -- cruising -- let's get on with it!

Please note that the above is not all-inclusive and that Cruise Critic reserves the absolute right to reject any and all content, in our sole discretion, without notification to its author.  All of our Community Guidelines are in effect.  Any questions, comments or concerns regarding the above should be addressed to us at:  community@cruisecritic.com using your email address of record.  Please include your member name.

Has Grand Turk been denying entry to vaccinated/unboosted people? I am bracing myself to not be able to go to port because I am not vaccinated, but my friend is and she has not been boosted. Wondering if she will have a problem?

It depends on what you list on your health assessment for the ship.  That detail vaccinated or not vaccinated is on your S&S card.  You won't be allowed off the ship.   I don't think they look at boosters.

My question is what does "fully" vaccinated mean? Wife and I have had 1 shot and 1 booster but that was over a year ago. Are we compliant?

According to the CDC, and the Government of Turks Caicos, fully vaccinated means having completed the COVID vaccine primary series.  "Up-to-date" means having had the latest booster.  Turks Caicos isn't requiring "up-to-date".

Do you show your vac card when you board the ship?

Reports from others are saying NO. But if you have it with you or on your phone, bring it just in case.  COVID  cases are rising and who knows what protocols will be in place over the next few months.

I received a notice from the travel agency that booked my cruise that unvaxxed will not be permitted to disembark in Grand Turk. In case there is still any confusion over this topic, it seems - based on many poster experiences, the GT Govt website, and this new communication - that all unvaxxed will remain on the ship at this port. I guess I will just plan a solo day at a less crowded pool and lunch buffet. 🙂

Hello!!

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of disembarking without the vaccine???

The actual Turks and Caicos government website says "Anyone over 18 must be fully vaccinated to visit"

Holland told me directly you do not need it "according to their records" and also a travel agent emailed

me "The vaccine requirement was dropped". So confusing. Thank you!

I was there in November. I have all my vaccines and boosters. No one asked to see my vaccination card. And all those vaccines did not save me from getting covid on the Rotterdam. If you are not vaccinated, can you get on the ship? I'm not up to speed with the precautions. Just how many sick people were on the ship is all I know.

Safe travels, AC

Howdy. I just booked a last-minute new years HAL cruise that stops in Grand Turk and was wondering if anyone had any updated, first-hand information regrading this topic. I'm aware of the official statements on the Turks and Caicos website, but wanted to see if folks had any new real-world info. Thanks!

Read the posts from people who have been there in the last few months.   Your health/vaccine status is on your ship id.  If you declared you're vaccinated they'll let you off no questions.  List no vaccine and the ship security won't let you off.  No one from Grand Turk is at the port checking separately.

I'm looking at a Princess cruise that has a stop in Grand Turk in January. I'm totally fine with staying on the ship. What I can't get a straight answer on is if I'm able to actually embark on the voyage initially without proof of vax. Princess Cruise Health tool says no vax or test required, the online chat agent said I need a test, and the phone agent said I need a vax.

Check the Princess boards for information.  What is required has probably been discussed.

My friend just came back from her cruise with HAL. Her and her family (unvaxxed) just answered "yes" when getting off the ship in Grand Turk and did not have any complications getting back on. I am not cruising there unless it changes because I am not comfortable lying in a foreign country. LOL. Thank you for all the responses!!

(p.s. someone private messaged me on FB answering the same question and said they had to show proof on a Carnival stop there). SO its what I thought and up to the crew. GT probably won't rescind this as they are not feeling the shortage of passengers d/t the rule breakers. They are the only holdouts!

We were on Carnival Spirit last week. We were not asked to fill out a health assessment when we booked or at the port. When we checked in we were asked if we were vaccinated. 2 people in our group said yes but I never answered and we were not asked for our Vac cards. Again, no one asked for our cards when we got off the ship in Grand Turk.

Did they ask if you were vaccinated against Covid or just vaccinated (could be for anything)
