Cruisin 4 Ever Posted October 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2022 DH and I are doing a back to back in January. I am 7 days until platinum. He is 11. The first cruise Is 6 days followed by a cruise that's 8 days. It might sound silly but we planned it like that on purpose so we could celebrate becoming platinum together. The cruise docs show I become platinum on the 2nd cruise but does not show my husband becoming platinum on the 2nd cruise. The only thing I can figure is they didn't give us points for the 6 night cruise because it was a good sale. Not free We paid about $400 per person before taxes and port fees and it wasn't a casino deal or anything like that. Has anyone ever not had points awarded to them when they've gotten a good sale on a carnival cruise memo cruise?
Indiansbaseball Posted October 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2022 That hasn’t happened to me. We got a Thanksgiving cruise last year, last minute for $25 each and we got the points. I would call your PVP (or Carnival)
Tiger0613 Posted October 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2022 My 5 day cruise on the Valor on the 11/29/21 sailing was mistakenly marked as a non-revenue cruise. I paid completely out of pocket. There was no FCC, casino offer, or OBC. I paid $668.86 after taxes and fees for a Lido balcony solo. I originally booked an oceanview. I switched to the Lido balcony when Carnival offered balcony cabins for the price of an oceanview. I went from a 6B oceanview to an 8D balcony. It was a public offer. I called my PVP, and she called whoever she needed to call to get me those 5 cruise and VIFP days. Those days show up in the total days listed above my past cruises, but that cruise is still listed as earning 0 days. All of my subsequent cruises show incorrect starting and ending days, but the total days are still correct.

The system is not counting the first cruise - 6 days for either of you toward your total VIFP points accrued until you are actually on it. If you end up being a no-show, you will not accrue the points. Consequently, the 8-day 2nd cruise is enough to make you platinum without the first leg, so it is showing you as platinum on that leg, as you technically become platinum on the first day of the voyage that encompasses your 75th night. If you log in to Carnival on the day the first leg ends, the system should show both of you as platinum at that time. Also, since your cards are printed before the actual embarkation date, it's very possible your DH will receive a gold card on the 2nd leg, but can go to the guest services desk if he wants his to switch it to a platinum one on the 2nd leg.

I know theres no magic formula or amount of money to spend to get free cruises but do you remember about how many cruises you took before you started getting offers? Ive never gotten a free offer before but i have gotten discounts.

One of the reasons I sailed Splendor 5X that year and made it to Platinum in 4 years.

southbayer Posted October 15, 2022 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2022 I became platinum on my second back to back cruise, same port, different ship.. I didn't get the platinum card or any perks on my second sailing.. I notified the front desk after a couple hrs on board, and luckily i had a print out of all my sailings, i took that down there.. They said they would "contact Miami" office, and two hours later letters and new card and welcome platinum note was in my room. 1
Clarasgrandma Posted October 16, 2022 #12 Share Posted October 16, 2022 We turned platinum on the 3rd leg of a b2b2b and we were not given platinum cards at any point until we went to guest services on the first day of our third leg and finally convinced them that we were indeed platinum on that specific sailing. I think in our situation, their computer system hadn’t updated our cruise days quickly enough for them to make the change without us having to ask. You can always go to guest services and have your cards updated to platinum if need be. As mentioned previously, just have proof of days sailed in hand.
