This is new from my last visit! So we took the Transporter to the Wilderness Landing area. The transporter is free, but the Skyglider is not.

IMG_1901-L.jpg

IMG_1902-L.jpg

We stopped in the Adventure Den to get Susan and Maria's waivers signed, and to get their wristbands for the Ziprider which gives them unlimited Skyglider access.

This is a map of Icy Strait Point. This will give you better idea of the layout of ISP with the new additions.

IMG_1916-L.jpg

Back on the bottom of the hill.

IMG_1917-L.jpg

this will help illustrate the elevation rise.

IMG_1918-L.jpg

So we decided to head back over to the Cannery.

IMG_1919-L.jpg

IMG_1921-L.jpg

IMG_1922-L.jpg

Trace, Maria, Susan and I all fit in these gondolas comfortably. Trace and I are not small people.

I was hoping the Cookhouse was going to be open. They had fabulous Fish & Chips the last time we were in ISP. But they were closed.

The Cannery has a lot of great information. Plus some really cool shops to explore.

I really enjoy the examples of how the canning process was done in the past.

After getting some goodies, we headed back towards the Adventure Center.

IMG_1961-L.jpg

Susan and Maria took the souvenirs back to our respective Staterooms as Susan and Maria as well as Trace and I had excursions. The women were doing the ZipRider and Trace and I were doing an ATV excursion.

IMG_1964-L.jpg

I saved the fire. It had died down. You need a good fire on a cool day!

IMG_1966-L.jpg

We hopped back on the Transporter to head back up the Skyglider one more time before our excursions!

IMG_1967-L.jpg

IMG_1968-L.jpg

Adventure course - it wasn't open and looked like it was still being put together still.

Back on the Skyglider!

IMG_8927-L.jpg

IMG_8929-L.jpg

IMG_8930-L.jpg

I love Maria's eyes as we start heading up!

IMG_8931-L.jpg

IMG_8932-L.jpg

The view is incredible!

IMG_1981-L.jpg

A quick rest break!

We headed back down the Skyglider and our groups parted ways. Susan and Maria had to meet up in the Adventure Den for the Ziprider. They then would ride the Skyglider up to the top again. Trace and I headed back to the Adventure Center on the Transporter.

You can see the Wilderness Dock entrance from the Transporter.

Ziprider3-L.jpg

I watched a group of Zipriders come flying in. Just so Trace could see what Susan and Maria would be doing!

IMG_1991-L.jpg

We hung out near the fire, as we waited for our meeting time.

Trace and I checked in for our excursion.

We continued on!

Trace and I had a blast! We did have a brown pants moment when the throttle got stuck. Luckily, Trace got it unstuck, otherwise that could have been a whole different adventure!

We loaded up on the bus for the ride back to Hoonah and the ship.

Here is the video of our ATV excursion!

Thanks for taking me back to Alaska, our trip ended early when my sister ended up with COVID.

You are welcome, glad I could help. I am sorry to hear about your trip being cut short, I hope your sister recovered alright.

Oh my goodness you all had a great time!  We are torn between the zip line and the ATV tour.  Hopefully we can do both.....

I hope so too. We did have an awesome time. When we were on the Sun, we had booked a whale watching tour here in ISP. But when the Sun itinerary got cut, there were not enough participants to go, so the company cut the tour. Trace and I then booked the ATV tour. Susan had wanted to do the Zipline since the last time we were in ISP.

Trace & I finally made it back to the Port area. The tour was 2.5 hours long.

IMG_2154-L.jpg

IMG_2155-L.jpg

IMG_2157-L.jpg

When we left Susan and Maria, we couldn't remember how long our tour was. So when we got back, they were kind of freaking out that we had been gone so long. We apologized for not knowing, plus they couldn't take their cell phones on the ziprider, so its not like I could text.

IMG_2160-L.jpg

IMG_2161-L.jpg

IMG_2165-L.jpg

Since the Spirit was not very full and we were the only ship in Port. At like 8:00 when we got back, almost everything was closed and most of the passengers were already onboard. We had an all aboard of 9:30. I noticed we left Port, with everyone onboard at like 8:45 to 9:00.

09F0E-L.jpg

Susan really didn't want to take this picture, but I reminded her we needed to take at least one picture set every night. She was tired from all the activities at ISP.

We headed down to Windows for Dinner.

IMG_8946-L.jpg

French Onion Soup

Asian Sparerib with Summer Vegetable Roll

IMG_8942-L.jpg

Minestrone Soup

 IMG_8943-L.jpg

White Cheddar and Potato Soup

IMG_8947-L.jpg

Almond Crusted Ruby Red Trout

IMG_8948-L.jpg

Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo

I had the Whole Roasted Sirloin but that picture went missing.

 IMG_8949-L.jpg

IMG_8950-L.jpg

Ice Cream

IMG_8951-L.jpg

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake

IMG_8952-L.jpg

Bananas Foster

It had been a long day, so we all retired to our staterooms after dinner.

Was Susan able to select her zip line time?  If so maybe we can book the zip line before or after an ATV excursion.  We will be on the Jewel in August Southbound after taking a land tour.

I believe there were options when we booked online.

How bumpy would you say the ATVs were, on a scale from maybe Smooth as Glass to Toronto Potholes?  Such beautiful scenery!

Well it is a gravel road with small creeks/springs crossing it. We were going 15 mph and it did have a few bumps along the way. I would be a little disappointed if there weren’t some bumps along the way. It’s not like you are completely off-roading it either. It was fun running through the forest with the foliage wacking you as go around a pothole. I enjoyed it and had lots of fun.

It was a little cloudy as we sailed North towards Hubbard Glacier.

IMG_2191-L.jpg

IMG_2192-L.jpg

IMG_2193-L.jpg

Kind of quiet out here! Not that I don't mind. Its my way of relaxing and getting ready for the day!

IMG_2194-L.jpg

IMG_8953-L.jpg

It was a bit cooler this morning, so I grabbed a cup of coffee.

IMG_8954-L.jpg

IMG_2197-L.jpg

Then it decided to start raining. I moved under deck 13 more.

IMG_2198-L.jpg

IMG_2199-L.jpg

You can see where I was, note the coffee cup and regular cup.

Still kind of quiet

IMG_2201-L.jpg

IMG_2204-L.jpg

I don't get why people don't want to experience this beautiful liquid sunshine in Alaska.

IMG_8955-L.jpg

Susan finally made her way to deck 12 and we headed to Windows.

IMG_2208-L.jpg

The look out the window at Windows!

IMG_8956-L.jpg

Seasonal fruit plate

IMG_8957-L.jpg

Cottage Cheese and my half grapefruit

IMG_8958-L.jpg

Susan got the burrito special

IMG_8959-L.jpg

So did I, but I got some sides to go with it.

IMG_2216-L.jpg

After breakfast, it was time to prepare for the sail in to Hubbard Glacier. We are just to the Southwest of Yakutat, Alaska and the Entrance into Yakutat Bay which leads to Disenchantment Bay.
