Should I pack hair straightener in luggage or carry on?

IIRC, you might want to check the "technology" of your hair straightener - those that use a ceramic heater, like curling irons, often do not function on ship power (due to the way power, neutral, and 
"ground" interact).

I’ve never had a problem with a straightener and put on in my checked luggage. Curling iron, yes, but on the next cruise, I got the same curling iron to work by putting it on a cooler setting. Don’t know why I didn’t try that previously. 🥂🍹🍺

Mardi Gras was the only ship that my straightener wouldn’t work on. All the older ships, it and my curling irons all worked. Obviously it didn’t ruin my vacation, but my hair looked ridiculous. Especially on formal night. 😂

Yes, Mardi Gras is where I had the issue as well. I was tipsy in the hallway trying plugs. 🤦🏼‍♀️
