janetcbl Posted October 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Does anyone know where the Viking “Great Lakes Collection” Expedition ship docks in Duluth, Minnesota? Thanks!
ropomo Posted October 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Don't know for sure, but I suspect it is at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. We are on Polaris next year and disembark in Duluth. In trying to figure this out, I did some poking around with Google and ran across an article discussing upgrades to the facility to accommodate the anticipated new cruise ship traffic. ropomo Posted October 23, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2022 Your question got me curious enough to check again. I found a video of Vikings first arrival earlier this year along with a newspaper article. It indicated that it held station and used tenders. Checked my invoice and sure enough. Duluth is a tender port (see below indicated by anchor at far right)
Rare Sunflower & The Scientist Posted October 24, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2022 It is a tender port. The tender takes you to the start of a little town area you can walk around. There is a lovely boardwalk that takes you along the lake then up to a rose garden.
janetcbl Posted October 24, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted October 24, 2022 Thanks for your answers…..I was afraid it was a Tender Port….not my favorite way for Embarkation……but, as usual, we will manage just fine.
