MSC Newbie Questions

Just booked our 1st MSC cruise on Seascape in Yacht Club for January.  Even though Seascape isn't sailing yet, I have some small easy general questions:

Do YC Deluxe Suites (YC1) have any loungers on the balconies or can they be requested & provided by the butlers/stewards?

What diet sodas are onboard the ships (can or gun)?

Is it possible to request being in the last group to disembark the ship back in Miami (our flight isn't until 4:15pm)?

I assume that there's a charge for eating at the sushi bar (even for YCers).  Is that correct and if so any idea of the prices?

Recently returned from 7 days aboard MSC Seashore, but not in Yacht Club so I'm unable to answer any questions about YC. For disembarkation, it sounds like you might be asking how long you can remain in your YC room before being asked to vacate. Perhaps that is something you can discuss with YC staff on your final night.

My wife is VC Diamond, so we were in group 2 to depart. We let MSC take our large luggage the night before so all we had to carry off the ship were our backpacks. In the morning, we went to Marketplace buffet. The ship was already docked at the cruise terminal. Lots of people with luggage were at the buffet getting a final meal before leaving the ship. We managed to grab an outside table with a great view on deck 16 just outside the buffet. While we were eating, several groups were called to disembark, including ours. No worries, as we had an early afternoon flight. Even so, we disembarked after finishing breakfast because we had thought about taking Uber/Lyft to the airport. However, since there were @4 other cruise ships in port, the apps told us it would be a while for a ride. It might also be a challenge trying to find the driver among the many in the immediate area. So we opted for a taxi.

On Seashore, available diet sodas included Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Seven Up Zero -- all served in cans. Interestingly, on Ocean Cay, the lighthouse bar had no diet sodas (can or gun).

We didn't eat at Kaito Sushi, so no information on pricing. That being said, if you Google "Kaito Teppanyaki MSC" and then look under images, you might find what you're looking for. As an aside, if you opt for one of the specialty dining packages, make sure you are clear as to which restaurants are eligible. When we bought the trilogy package, we were explicitly told dinner at Kaito Teppanyaki was eligible. Later, after having dinner at Kaito Teppanyaki, we noticed charges for that meal had been billed on the MSC app. So we had to spend about 30 minutes with Guest Services and the manager at Kaito Teppanyaki to get the issue resolved. Also note that for specialty dining packages, there is a limited menu (a subset of the regular menu) you can choose from; if you want something that is not part of the limited menu, there will be an additional charge (typically 50% off the regular price).

Yes, there's a charge to fine st the specialty restaurants, including sushi and yes, including forbYC guests.

In Miami, sure - you can ask to be the last group out, shouldn't be an issue. You'll be out of your cabin by 8, 8:30am and waiting around the Top Sail lounge or elsewhere til time to go, usually all off by 9:30/10am. If memory services, on other sailings in YC, breakfast was all done by 9 or so in the restaurant... There's no real late departures ws the ship has to be zeroed by US CBP before boarding can begin..

Loungers may or may not be available. It varies, depends on size of balcony, butler, availability, etc. That's a wait and see, and even then, hit or miss..

We recently sailed with disembarking Oct 21 in Miami.

we are Diamond and we were in YC.
We were told to vacate cabin before 8 am and be at Top Sail by 8.

I asked why so early but given push back by butler.  We were given no leeway.
Ironically, ship did not clear port until close to 9.
Walk offs called first at that time.

We asked to be in last group escorted from lounge.

Other butlers coming back reported that disembarkation was “ a real mess down there”.

Out Butler said he needed us off ship NOW as he wanted to clear his passenger list early.

Well, disembarkation was horrible and all of us were in lines to clear immigration for 3 hours, people passing out while on line.
Miami seems to always be a mess.

I would not plan on being allowed to stay onboard any longer than normal.

The MSC Voyagers Club specific information on the MSC website lists as one of the privileges:

"Late cabin check-out disembarkation [Diamond], late cabin check-out on disembarkation for Diamond card members can stay in their cabin till 2 hours after the ship arrives in port. Members should check transfer time to make sure they can enjoy the privilege.  More details are available by contacting Recption - Guest Service and / or MSC Voyagers Club infopoint."

As the paying guest, I'd be offended if my butler gave me pushback for trying to enjoy this privilege.  I book late afternoon flights home to avoid rushing and compensate for possible disembarkation delays.  Ideally, we'll go somewhere for a leisurely lunch before hitting the airport.  Being "forced" off the ship early so the butler can clear his passenger list early wouldn't sit right with me because that'd most likely be too early to go to a restaurant for lunch.  I guess I'd tell him he can clear me off his list and after a week or more on the ship, I'd be able to find my way off on my own.  I'm not saying I'd stay in the cabin that whole time since I do understand that they need to turn that cabin for the next guests, but I would like to relax a bit more in Top Sail or on the pool deck.

Just sayin'....
